PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg Police Department is investigating a homicide at a south Parkersburg residence, Police Chief Joe Martin said Tuesday evening.

The police department received a call at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday to check on the welfare of a resident at 1604 Tygart St., Martin said. Responding to the call, police found a deceased female at the home, he said.

The victim’s name was not released Tuesday as police were talking to family members, Martin said. An autopsy will be performed today at the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston.

The police department is looking for two people of interest in the case, Martin said. Anyone who might have seen suspicious activity at the Tygart Street residence is asked to call the Parkersburg Police Department at 304-424-8444.
