Sen. Joe Manchin to spend day in Wood County

PARKERSBURG — A U.S. senator from West Virginia will be at a career fair Wednesday at West Virginia University at Parkersburg and participate in the ribbon cutting of a new addiction treatment center in Parkersburg.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., is among the hosts of The Mid-Ohio Valley Career Fair to be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The fair will be hosted by Manchin, WorkForce WV, the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley, the Workforce Development Board Mid-Ohio Valley, West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance and Results Radio.

Manchin will be in Wood County on Wednesday where, in addition to the job fair, he will speak at the ribbon cutting at Recovery Point Parkersburg at 1:30 p.m. at 4204 Emerson Ave. Recovery Point is a long-term, residential recovery program that follows the 12-Step model of Alcoholics Anonymous. It also has facilities in Huntington, Bluefield and Charleston.

He also will tour the Chemours plant at the Washington Works on Wednesday.
