VIENNA -- Saturday evening's "Over The Rainbow" charity gala, organized by the WVU Medicine Camden Clark Foundation, raised over $30,000 for local cardiac care services.

More than 200 tickets were sold for the gala, which had a "Wizard of Oz" theme. The gala, from 7-10 p.m., had a "there's no place like home for your heart" slogan.

The entire Parkersburg Country Club was reserved for the fundraiser with the ballroom being transformed into the "Emerald City." The black-tie optional event included dancing, casino, gourmet hors d'oeuvres, confections and cocktails.

Plans for the new WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center were discussed at the gala. The three-story, 40,000-square-foot facility will be built along Garfield Avenue near the hospital. Construction is expected to begin in June for the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at Camden Clark Medical Center.

Sponsors for Saturday's gala were WVU Emergency Medicine, United Bank, Grae-Con, Parkersburg Cardiology Associates, Highmark WV, Park Shopping Center, J.T. and Mary Thomas and Bernard McDonough Foundation.
