PARKERSBURG — West Virginia University at Parkersburg will host the Cold Stares with special guests Thru the Mill and Creek Don’t Rise in concert at 6 p.m. March 24 in the College Activities Center on the college’s main campus.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students with ID. Tickets can be purchased at the WVU-P business office, Multiverse Comics or the Sound Exchange in Parkersburg.

The Cold Stares, offering a mix of rock and the blues, have performed at such venues as Piano’s in New York City, the Viper Room in Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, and Copperhead Music Festival in Illinois. Rockabilly group Thru the Mill reigns from Huntington, along with Creek Don’t Rise who encompass the blues, rock and country music genres.

Presented in partnership with 96.3 FM WPKM, WVU-P’s college radio station, this is an opportunity for the campus and community to come together for an evening of food, music and fun, the college said.

“The purpose of this event is to engage students and the community as well as bring awareness to WPKM, the only community college radio station in the state of West Virginia,” said Torie Jackson, WVU-P’s Humanities, Fine Arts and Social Sciences division chair.

Food and beer will be available for purchase from DiCarlo’s Pizza and Woodridge Plantation Golf Course, respectively. Graw Entertainment will provide sound, and Nathan Hess will provide motion lighting.
