Camden Clark Health System names Smith VP of physician enterprises

PARKERSBURG — Sean Smith has been named vice president of physician enterprises and clinical integration by WVU Medicine Camden Clark Health System.

Smith most recently was vice president, business development and clinical integration at Camden Clark where he was responsible for program development, physician recruitment and the clinical integration of services.

“Sean’s years of experience working closely with physicians and their practices and his knowledge of how that translates to improving access to care and enhancing patient experiences makes him the perfect choice for this new role. His demonstrated ability to recruit and work with physicians and integrate their clinical expertise will be key to helping realize our vision, goals and outcomes,” said Steve Altmiller, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Camden Clark.

Smith’s new role includes responsibility for the operations of employed physician ambulatory services of WVU Medicine throughout the area served by Camden Clark. His responsibilities include management oversight for the development of high quality, patient-centered, cost effective and integrated medical practices and clinics.

“I am passionate about all the improvements and innovations we’ve implemented at WVU Medicine Camden Clark over the past few years and look forward to my responsibilities to provide leadership support for our ambulatory services,” said Smith.

It’s an exciting time for WVU Medicine in the Mid-Ohio Valley, Smith said.

“The increased access to care we now offer to those communities we serve sets us apart from other area hospitals and health systems and I look forward to continue working with our dedicated medical teams to achieve exceptional patient care experiences,” Smith said. “The Mid-Ohio Valley is home to me and where my wife and I have chosen to raise our family so I have a vested interest in helping to make a difference for those in our community who we care for.”

A St. Marys native, Smith received both his undergraduate (2000) and master’s (2002) degrees from Marshall University and joined WVU Medicine Camden Clark in 2011. Over the past eight years, he has held management positions including vice president of operations, executive director, Camden Clark Physician Corporation and director of physician recruitment.

Smith serves on the board of directors of the United Way and Parkersburg YMCA, was selected to the inaugural 2018-2019 West Virginia Hospital Association State Leadership Class, is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a 2015 graduate of the Camden Clark Medical Center Leadership Academy.

He is also a certified high school football coach and volunteers with local teams.
