PITTSBURGH — The work of interior designer Alisha Gwen Humphrey, a Wood County native, is featured in the October issue of HGTV Magazine.

Her business, Alisha Gwen Interior Design LLC, is based in Pittsburgh.

The nine-page magazine article describes the interior design work Humphrey did for a couple in Pennsylvania.

Drs. Robin Midian and Anthony Lupetin of Gibsonia, Pa., contacted Humphrey about bringing a bolder color scheme to their home in the Treesdale community. The home had been filled with brown and beige colors.

The couple wanted their daughter’s colorful artwork to serve as an inspiration for the home’s new decor, Humphrey said.

This artwork gave her a vision for what the home’s interior should look like.

The homeowners also wanted more comfortable chairs to relax in after a long day at work, she said.

Humphrey said she went about breathing new life into the Gibsonia house, giving it a fresh, updated appearance.

She worked on the interior design of the master bedroom on the second floor and all the rooms on the first floor.

Her interior design work mixes textures, patterns and colors, often creating unexpected combinations in the rooms, she said.

A front sitting room in Gibsonia has a blue sofa, yellow armchairs, a turquoise Ottoman and a bright blue ceiling.

A bathroom has red zigzags on a white background.

Humphrey ordered the furniture, flooring, paint, light fixtures and other items for the Gibsonia house.

The interior design project took several months to complete.

Humphrey also appeared on an HGTV competition show with other designers about five years ago.

“Every client is different,” Humphrey said of her interior design business.

She tries to get to know the clients on a personal level while developing a home interior design for them, she said.

Humphrey, the daughter of Becky Astorg Rogers of Vienna and Howard Humphrey of Vienna, is a 2003 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 2007 graduate of West Virginia University with a major in interior design and a minor in entrepreneurship.

After working as a designer for a company, Humphrey started her own interior design company in Pittsburgh three years ago.

She said she enjoys running her own business and being an entrepreneur. She does interior design for new construction and remodeling projects in addition to individual room redesign.

Humphrey is now working on remodeling projects in Vienna and Williamstown. She worked on the interior design of Conley Law Office at 1130 Market St. in Parkersburg.
