NEW YORK (AP) — Humans and great apes have been giggling in similar ways since branching off the evolutionary tree, a new study suggests. How do we know this? Researchers tickled 13 captive apes — including gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees and bonobos — and recorded the results. The new research reexamined those decades-old recordings and compared them with the newly captured giggles of four young children while they were being tickled and playing at home. Florida executes 74-year-old man

MIAMI (AP) — A 74-year-old man convicted of killing his wife has become the oldest person to be executed in modern Florida times. Authorities say Dusty Ray Spencer received a lethal injection Thursday evening for the 1992 stabbing death of his wife Karen. It was Florida's ninth execution this year. Florida Corrections records dating to 1924 show the oldest inmates last executed in Florida were both 72. One of them, Samuel Lee Smithers, was put to death last year for two killings in 1996 while the other, R. Charlie Gifford, was executed in 1951 for a state lawmaker's shooting death. ...
