WEST UNION – Second ranked (Class AA) Raley Cochran outdueled Ritchie County freshman Layla Devereux over the final 400 meters to win the Doddridge County Invitational cross country meet Tuesday afternoon. True tests ahead for WVU The annual scheduled game against an overmatched FCS opponent went about as expected last Saturday as West Virginia cruised to an easy 52-7 victory over UT Martin. It was an opportunity for nearly all players on the WVU sideline to see game action, which for some may be their only on field appearance of the season. Republicans to hold scramble at Oxbow

BELPRE - The Washington County Republican Party will hold its sixth annual golf scramble on Oct. 10 at Oxbow Golf Course. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The fee for the four-person scramble is $300 and the package includes greens fee, cart, refreshments, snacks and a steak dinner.
