Local swimmer captures national title

PARKERSBURG — The YMCA of Parkersburg is proud to announce that local swimmer Levi Priddy captured a national title in the 100 Freestyle at the 2026 YMCA Short Course National Championship, held last week in Greensboro. In addition to his national championship performance, Priddy also placed 6th in the 100 Backstroke, further solidifying his place among the top swimmers in the country. Priddy represents the YMCA of Parkersburg and is a graduating senior at River Valley High School in Bidwell, Ohio. Parkersburg South duo brings home hardware

Parkersburg South swept the hardware at the Scott Brown Classic Boys Basketball All-Star game over the weekend at Shady Spring. Harry Silvis won the 3-point shootout while Taj Joyce won the dunk contest. Joyce also won MVP honors after leading the Mid-State AAAA & A all-stars to a 107-85 victory.

Cole helps WVU take series over Texas Tech

After losing a tough series to UCF, No. 17 West Virginia baseball bounced back to beat Texas Tech in a three-game series by winning the rubber match on Sunday in Lubbock. The Mountaineers starter Chansen Cole allowed just two runs and pitched into the ninth inning to secure the third game of the series, 10-2, over the Red Raiders. WVU has won its ninth series on the year with the win. The Mountaineers are now 24-8 on the year and 10-5 in the Big 12.
