GLEN DALE -- Parkersburg South led 10-0 at halftime and was up 24-7 in the second half, but John Marshall scored the game's final 20 points to rally for a 27-24 victory Friday.
The Patriots (0-5) got a 2-yard touchdown run from Logen Arnold and a 43-yard field goal from Wyatt Bartley in the first half.
Arnold later threw a touchdown pass to Josiah Swiger, who nabbed his third interception of the season on defense, while Asa Yost ran for a score for the Patriots, who are off next week before playing host to Hurricane on Oct. 9.
Dalton Cooper had three touchdown runs for the Monarchs while Jacob Cisar also found the end zone on the ground. JMHS is now 4-1 and entertains Warren next week.
Roane County 54, Braxton County 6
SPENCER -- Roane County's ground attack was unstoppable in Friday's 54-6 win over Braxton County.
The Raiders, who bounced back from a loss to Williamstown and improved to 4-1, amassed 479 yards on 40 carries as a team. Brody Proctor led the way with 202 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries.
Wyatt Lawson and Javon Letourneau added 86 and 82 yards, respectively, and each found the end zone once, as did Koltyn Starcher and Chase Pinson. Brennen Carpenter's only completed pass of the game was a 20-yard scoring strike to Logan Wilson.
Logan Payne, who carried 10 times for 107 yards, got the Eagles (1-3) on the board in the third quarter on an 87-yard jaunt.
Roane hosts Ravenswood next week while Braxton welcomes Poca.
Ritchie County 45, Magnolia 0
ELLENBORO -- Jenner Keen found the end zone four times, with three coming on touchdown passes from Landen Harlon, to help lead Ritchie County past Magnolia 45-0 on Friday.
Keen caught five passes for 149 yards and also ran for a 5-yard touchdown to open the game. Isaiah Poole added 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Rebels, who evened their record at 2-2 and visit Gilmer County next week.
Noah Shoemaker rounded out the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Harlon finished 6 for 9 for 160 yards as Ritchie led 12-0 after one, 26-0 at halftime and 32-0 going into the fourth.
Magnolia, which dropped to 1-4, was limited to 72 total yards of offense. The Blue Eagles will try to bounce back next week at Tyler Consolidated.
Frontier 29, St. Marys 20
NEW MATAMORAS -- Austyn Kephart delivered the dagger in the form of a 54-yard touchdown run with 4:45 left in regulation of Frontier's 29-20 win over St. Marys on Friday.
The Blue Devils trailed 23-6 midway through the fourth but got back in it when Liam Davis threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Noah Dawson with 6:35 left. On Frontier's ensuing possession, St. Marys recovered a fumble at the Cougars' 6-yard line, and Davis punched it in two plays later to make it a three-point game, 23-20, with 5:44 left.
Kephart's response on the other end helped Frontier improve to 5-1 with a home game against Conotton Valley set for next week.
Luke Mendenhall, who finished 6 for 11 for 123 yards passing, threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Caden Barrows to give FHS a 7-6 lead. Kephart, who carried five times for 73 yards, followed with a 5-yard TD run before Preston Binegar's 36-yard field goal at the buzzer made it 17-6 at halftime.
Davyn Ferrell's 5-yard TD plunge made it 23-6 in the third.
Ethan Pierce led the Blue Devils (1-3) with 124 yards on 10 carries. His 50-yard touchdown run put the visitors up 6-0 early. SMHS plays host to Oak Glen next week.
Fort Frye 38, Caldwell 7
CALDWELL, Ohio -- Grady Hesson threw three touchdown passes as Fort Frye improved to 6-0 with a 38-7 win Friday at Caldwell.
The Cadets, who play host to unbeaten Barnesville next week, saw their senior signal-caller finish 5 for 6 for 183 yards through the air. He opened the game with a pair of TD strikes to Luke Phillis -- one from 18 yards out and the other from 47. Gavin Rauch, who ran for five TDs a week ago, found the end zone from 12 yards out before Tytan Waller kicked a 29-yard field goal to give FFHS a 25-7 halftime edge.
Hesson ran it in himself from 34 yards out and also had a 67-yard touchdown pass to Clayton Tullius in the third quarter to round out the scoring. Tullius finished with three catches for 118 yards.
Sam Bricker led Fort Frye's rushing attack, churning out 72 yards on 10 carries. Hesson added 60 yards on five carries.
Athens 40, Warren 7
THE PLAINS, Ohio -- Brody Sparks set a program record with four takeaways, but Warren ultimately fell to Athens 40-7 Friday at Joe Burrow Stadium.
Spark had two interceptions and two fumble recoveries for the Warriors, who fell to 2-4 and visit John Marshall next week.
Braylen Murray found Jaxon Venham for a 19-yard touchdown pass to put the Warriors up 7-0 in the first quarter.
Athens' tied it up on a 48-yard TD run by quarterback Briar Thomas. From there, it was the Tyriq Cunningham show. Cunningham hauled in four touchdown passes from Thomas and returned a punt 96 yards to the house for the Bulldogs (5-1).
Cunningham finished with nine catches for 173 yards and Thomas was 12 for 15 for 204 yards.
Murray led Warren with 38 rushing yards and was 7 for 14 passing for 116 yards.
