BECKLEY -- In a state tournament elimination game, Parkersburg Post 15 rallied from a 7-1 deficit to claim an 11-9 win over Beckley Post 32 on Saturday.
Beckley (26-8) got to Parkersburg starter Seth Menarchek early, putting three runs in the first and two more in the second for a 5-1 lead. Post 32 added two more in the fourth to go up six, but Parkersburg answered with a six-spot in the top of the fifth to knot it up at 7-all.
Post 15 (19-10) then added two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Cooper Cancade, who pitched four innings of relief to earn the mound victory, led the Parkersburg offense with three hits and three runs-batted-in. Eli Davis went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored while Cam Cumpston doubled and scored twice. Menarchek, who pitched the first three innings and got a no-decision, scored a pair of runs. While Easton Miller doubled and drove in a run.
Beckley saw Degan Williams go 2 for 4 with a triple, double and five RBIs; Zach Hunt doubled and scored three times while Levi Barnett and Maddex both had two hits and two runs.
