DANIELS -- Brooke High School and Marshall University graduate Ryan Bilby has sole possession of first place at the 93rd West Virginia Open following his 6-under par round of 66 here Thursday on the Cobb Course.

Bilby followed up a 1-under par 71 effort in the first round on the Stonehaven Course with the lowest score of the tournament, which put him at 7-under and one stroke ahead of fellow pro Mason Williams.

Williams, a Bridgeport native who played collegiately at Georgia Southern and competes on the PGA Tour Americas, has a two-day total of 138 after shooting 4-under Thursday on the Cobb Course.

Bilby’s march to the top of the leaderboard featured a pair of 33s on each side. An eagle on the par-5, fifth hole highlighted his front nine effort and he finished things off by making birdie on his final three holes.

Pro David Bradshaw sits at 3-under par after he followed a 72 on Stonehaven with a 69 on Thursday. He sits alone in third place.

Only four other golfers are in the red. Huntington’s Cam Roam is currently in solo fourth place at 2-under, while Carson Higginbotham, pro Lucas Cromeenes and Pat Carter are tied for fifth six shots off the pace at 1-under.

Defending champion Christian Brand is 2-over par and is tied for 12th.

Parkersburg pro Kenny Hess was tied for 10th after finishing even par Wednesday on the Cobb Course, but after shooting 3-over on Stonehaven he’s tied for 16th.

Also making the cut from the area were Ravenswood’s Alex Easthom (+6, T26th), Parkersburg’s Ben Palmer (+7, T28th), Wirt County’s Jude Walker (+7, T28), Mineral Wells’ Parker Vannoy (+11, T50th), Parkersburg’s Cameron Fallon (+12, T54) and St. Marys’ Coleman Lamp (+12, T54th).

The remaining 61 golfers who qualified for today’s final round all will compete on the Stonehaven Course at The Resort at Glade Springs.
