Spring Sports Stars (4/6)
SOFTBALL
*Jaiden Vargas and Payten Mackey each went 2 for 3 with a home run and a double in Parkersburg South’s 10-1 win over Riverside. Vargas tallied four runs-batted-in while Mackey scored three runs and drove in two. Annie Shelton pitched a five-inning complete game with one walk and 11 strikeouts.
*Jessa Anderson went 3 for 4 with a double and four runs-batted-in in Magnolia’s 10-6 win over Frontier. Olivia Hohman and BellaSockman drove in two runs apiece while Sidney Knight and Aerie Varner had two hits each. Varner also pitched a complete game. For the Cougars, Katie Congleton was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
*Ana Shutts was 5 for 5 at the plate to lead Warren to a 15-5 win over Nelsonville-York. Jayda Murray and Hailey Metz had three hits apiece, with Murry driving in four runs. Emma Lang doubled twice while Danica Gates was 3 for 3 with three runs scored.
*Allison Crum allowed two runs over six innings and went 3 for 4 at the plate in Shenandoah’s 5-3 win over Waterford. Addy Harbaugh drove in two runs for the Zeps. Gracie Morris went 2 for 3 with a double for Waterford while Kaylee Martin doubled and plated two runs.
*Abby Miller pitched a complete game with three strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with an RBI at the plate in Marietta’s 3-1 win over Fort Frye. Elle Casto went the distance for the Cadets, fanning eight in a losing effort.
BASEBALL
*Roddick Page doubled and scored a run while Lex Grogg went 2 for 2 with an RBI in Gilmer County’s 10-5 loss to St. Joe’s.
*Brayden Neff tripled twice and scored two runs in Tyler Consolidated’s loss to Camden.
TENNIS
*In Williamstown’s 4-3 win over Jefferson, Brady Woodard, Isaac Harris and Xavier Graeber claimed singles wins while Woodard and Harris combined for a doubles victory. On the girls side, Williamstown won 6-1 behind singles triumphs from Addison Woodburn, Emmalee Pritchett and Lauren Deem. Peyton Woodburn and Addison Woodburn were victorious in doubles as were Pritchett and Deem and Brooke Mason and Hailey Barnes.
