WEST UNION — Doddridge County’s boys, who were led by high-point Tommy Walters-Hickman, won for the fourth straight spring while Williamstown’s girls repeated here Friday at the Cline Stansberry Invitational.

A pair of meet records fell by the wayside for the girls thanks to Elkins teammates Julia Biola (800, 2:17.67) and Marissa Brenwalt (100H, 14.72).

For the boys, a half dozen meet records were erased and that included Parkersburg’s AJ Payne also setting the school record in the 400 (48.72) and anchoring the record-breaking 4×2 that crossed in 3:27.75 with the help of teammates Landen Deuley, Gavin Bowman and Rogan Mincks. In fact, Mincks’ clocking of 1:57.56 also set the meet record in the 800.

Parkersburg boys, who like the girls only brought partial teams, edged out Ritchie County (78-77.5) for fourth place as Doddridge County (133) was followed by Elkins (101) and Williamstown (81.5).

Ripley’s Kyndyll Butler secured high-point honors for the girls with 33 as the Vikings barely nipped St. Marys (56.5-55) for fifth. Williamstown finished just ahead of Parkersburg, 111-107, with Elkins (69) and Doddridge County (66) following.

Walters-Hickman secured gold in the 100 (11.16), 200 (22.76) and the long jump (20-11.25). Bulldog head coach Bobby Burnside also had a double-winner with Nathanael Lloyd (high jump, 5-10; pole vault, 13-6).

Williamstown’s boys also featured a double-winner thanks to Christian Lockhart taking the shot with a throw of 47 feet, 10 inches as well as the discus (166-3).

While Elkins had meet records in the 4×1 (Elias Jones, Jaden Hatfield, Tony Silvester, Randal Marks: 44.62) and the 4×8 (Josh Bodkins, Logan Jones, Dylan Fortney, Trevor George: 8:07.92), the only other meet record came in the 300 hurdles where Wahama’s Trace Simpkins ran a 39.41.

Doddridge County’s boys also won the shuttles in a time of 1:02.53 with Will Adams, Trey McDonough, Jaxon Trent and Brycen Eidel.

Also for the Tigers, Jones, Hatfield, Lucian Breault and Marks won the 4×2 with a 1:31.66.

Others earning top of the podium finishes for the boys were Elkins’ Bobby Valentine (1600, 4:31.00), Parkersburg’s Connor George (3200, 9:49.95) and Wahama’s Reece Gerlach (110H, 15.76).

Butler had a pair of wins for the Vikings after running a 26.32 in the 200 and a 1:01.51 in the 400. Butler, who ran a 13.09 in the 100 to place fourth behind Tucker County champ Lela Wright’s 12.70, also finished runner-up to Valley’s Laken Dawson (16-3.75 to 15-4.5) in the long jump.

Williamstown head coach Zach Hall watched Reagan Corbett grab 20 points via victories in the shot put (38-8.65) and discus (131-0). The ‘Jackets also got a first-place effort of 10 feet in the pole vault from Grace Boone while Parkersburg’s Mya Baruwa won the high jump after clearing 5-4.

Biola secured the win in the 1600 with a time of 5:07.13 and Morgan Metz of Parkersburg clocked in at 11:35.69 to capture the 3200 crown. Big Red teammate Kelina Utietiang ran a 50.52 to take gold in the 300 hurdles.

The Yellowjacket girls also won the 4×2 by crossing in 1:51.21 thanks to Addison Richardson, Aleena Jhonson, Audrey Lefebure and Maggie Johnson.

Parkersburg closed the meet with Calli Angelos anchoring the victorious 4×4 (4:23.84) along with teammates Olivia Carpenter, Utietiang and Metz. Carpenter, Hadley Edwards, Audrey Wagoner and Angelos also won the 4×8 with a time of 10:15.34.

The other two relay wins went to Doddridge County in the 4×1 (Brooke Dehaven, Taylor Bodkin, Jaycee Lipscomb, Payton Trent: 51.62) and Wahama in the shuttles (Sydney Rickard, Hannah Frye, Adyson VanMeter, Aly Barnitz: 1:10.95).
