Hoops roundup: Tyler knocks off Ritchie

KIDWELL — Tyler Consolidated knocked off visiting Ritchie County 65-62 Friday night.

Landon Boggs paced the Silver Knights with 20 points. Ashton Morris netted 11, Brody Giovinazzo added 10 and Garrett Bordenkircher chipped in nine.

TCHS trailed 19-18 after one but had it knotted up by halftime, 30-all. The Knights outscored the Rebels 19-15 in the third to take a 49-45 advantage into the final eight minutes.

Isaac Hodges led all scorers with 30 points for the Rebels. Kellen Cress added nine while Seth Cronin and Turner ShrTyler Consolidated 65, Ritchie County 62

Ripley 80, Nicholas County 51

RIPLEY — Ripley got behind early but dominated the second and third quarters to run away with an 80-51 victory over Nicholas County Friday.

NCHS led 20-12 after one, but the Vikings used a 21-9 run in the second quarter to go up 33-29 at halftime. The third quarter was all Ripley, as the Vikings outscored the visitors 31-10 to take a 64-39 advantage into the final period.

Parker Smith led RHS with 23 points. Matthew Stellato knocked down five 3-pointers and added 17 points. Brady McVay netted 10 and Caleb Parsons tallied eight. The Vikings also got six points each from Kyler Doss, Blake Justice and Creed Waskey.

Nicholas County got 13 points apiece from Maverick Smith and Isaac Miner. Spencer Keiper added 11 and Landon Keenan chipped in seven.

GIRLS

St. Marys 73, Ritchie County 21

ST. MARYS — Laney Watkins’ career night fueled St. Marys to a dominant 73-21 victory over Ritchie County Friday in the Little Kanawha Conference fifth place game.

Watkins double-doubled, scoring a career-high 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds and five assists.

Brynnley Bulluck also double-doubled with 21 points, 11 boards and seven dimes while Anna Bennett added eight points, six rebounds and three steals for SMHS, which improved to 14-4 and will visit South Harrison on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils, who shot a ridiculous 65% (32 for 49) from the floor, led 19-7 after one, 33-12 at half and 57-15 going into the fourth.

Chelsie Jeffrey scored eight points to lead the Rebels (13-6) while Elsa Law added seven.

Wahama 37, Ravenswood 30

MASON — A second-half scoring drought doomed Ravenswood in a 37-30 loss to Wahama Friday in a Little Kanawha Conference placement game.

The Red Devils led 8-6 after one but got behind 15-14 at halftime. Then in the third, Wahama used an 11-2 run to create a 10-point cushion going into the fourth.

Fiona VanMatre scored a game-high 16 points for the White Falcons. Ady VanMatre added nine and Violet Connoly chipped in six.

Jayme Salser paced RHS with 13 points while Rachel Lambert added eight. Marley Cole grabbed six rebounds and Emily Andrade dished out four assists.
