Hoops roundup: South girls rout Warren
PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg South was on fire in Saturday’s 79-41 win over Warren at Rod Oldham Athletic Center.
The Patriots shot 62% (32 for 52) from the floor in the victory to improve to 14-3 on the year. They’ll play host to Buckhannon-Upshur at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Lindsey Logston finished with a game-high 20 points to go along with five steals. Quinn Bolyard added 18 points and six assists while Kenna Mace chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds. Tae Richards put five rebounds and five steals on her statline while Emilee Owens contributed six dimes.
South, which led 25-11 after one, 37-27 at halftime and 58-35 after three, also got seven points from Olivia Conaway.
The Warriors, who concluded the regular season with an 11-11 record and will visit Hillsboro at 7 p.m. Wednesday in tournament action, were led by Jayda Murray’s 11 points. Juliana Huffman added 10 points, Jaelynn Nichols tallied eight and Danica Gates netted seven.
Boyd County (Ky.) 69, Parkersburg 48
ASHLAND, Ky. — Jada Ray poured in 33 points to lead all scorers and lift Boyd County past Parkersburg 69-48 Saturday.
Carley Boyd added 18 points for the Lions (15-9) while Kallyn Groves and Kennedy Blankenship netted eight apiece.
BCHS led 25-14 after one, 39-26 at halftime and 52-34 going into the fourth.
Coming off a huge win over Class AAAA No. 1 George Washington on Friday, PHS (12-5) was led by Frances Guice’s 17 points. Lucie Cline added nine, Lauren Flanagan tallied eight and Kennedy Porter chipped in six.
Ripley 59, Shady Spring 40
RIPLEY — Kendal Wickline’s game-high 25 points weren’t enough to overcome a determined Ripley squad as the Vikings defeated Shady Spring 59-40 Saturday.
Wickline was complemented by Skyler Gibson’s 10 points, but the Tigers fell behind 19-6 after one and never recovered. It was 26-12 at halftime and 43-26 going into the fourth.
Kyndyll Butler paced Ripley with 17 points. Bristol Smith added while Jillian Kennedy buried four 3-pointers to score 12 points. Kassidy Wilson pitched in nine for the Vikings.
BOYS
Ripley 73, Point Pleasant 41
POINT PLEASANT — Parker Smith’s 15-point, 15-rebound double-double helped propel Ripley past Point Pleasant 73-41 Saturday.
The Vikings (14-4), led 24-13 after one, 42-21 at halftime and 62-37 going into the fourth, got a game-high 16 points from Blake Justice, who also tallied four steals. Matthew Stellato added 12 points and seven assists, Kyler Doss tallied 10 points and Brady McVay finished with eight points. Creed Waskey notched five dimes.
Point Pleasant (6-11) got 15 points from Landyn Keefer and 12 from Isaiah Waminam.
