Hoops roundup: Rebels roll past Blue Devils
ST. MARYS — Seth Cronin and Isaac Hodges combined for 57 points as Ritchie County cruised to an 80-30 win during Friday’s St. Marys Invitational.
Saturday’s consolation and championship games have been postponed due to impending weather.
Cronin buried six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 30 points for the Rebels (8-4). Hodges added 27 points while Turner Shriver and Asher Stephens chipped in six apiece.
RCHS led 25-9 after one, 43-16 at halftime and 67-26 going into the fourth.
The Blue Devils (1-11) were led by Roe Maston’s 11 points. Greg Jemison notched seven rebounds.
Wirt County 82, Calhoun County 70
MT. ZION — Wirt County erased a 40-35 halftime deficit with a big third quarter to leave Calhoun County with an 82-70 victory Friday.
The Tigers (9-3) outscored the Red Devils (2-12) 27-15 in the third period to take a 62-55 advantage into the final eight minutes and held on from there.
Braylan Dawson fueled the WCHS attack with 33 points. Easton Wyer (15 points) and Braxton Dennis (10) also reached double figures while Alex Bevel tallied nine.
Chase Schoolcraft led Calhoun with 29 points. Schoolcraft knocked down a game-high seven 3-pointers in the contest. Cooper Morris added three treys and 17 points while Sawyer Groves chipped in 12 points for CCHS.
South Harrison 66, Tyler Consolidated 49
KIDWELL — Tyler Consolidated never recovered from a slow start in Friday’s 66-49 loss to South Harrison.
The Silver Knights (3-9) scored just three points in the first quarter, falling behind 19-3. The visiting Hawks (5-7) never looked back and led 31-19 at halftime and 43-27 after three.
Graham Saas led SHHS with a game-high 19 points. Joey Feastermacher added 16, Adam Marple netted 11, Andy Allen tallied 10 and Collin Seguin chipped in seven.
Nobody for TCHS scored in double figures. Coley Bell led the squad, hitting three 3-pointers for nine points. Landon Boggs added eight and Cam Strode scored seven.
Southern 52, Waterford 47
RACINE, Ohio — Waterford took Southern down to the wire, but the Tornadoes held on for a 52-47 win to remain unbeaten in TVC Hocking play Friday.
Finn Pennock led all scorers with 22 points, but the Wildcats had their four-game win streak snapped to drop to 6-9. Reese Lang added 11 points for Waterford, which plays host to Warren on Tuesday.
The Tornadoes (11-2) got 20 points from Reed Brinager while Andre Chandler added 10. Jake Wickline and Lane Edwards chipped in seven apiece for SHS, which trailed 12-9 after one but rallied for a 31-29 halftime advantage. The Tornadoes outscored the Wildcats 12-10 in the third and 9-8 in the fourth to hang on.
