CHARLESTON — Parkersburg South improved to 3-0 with a 73-31 win over host Capital Friday night.

Lindsey Logston turned in a game-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Patriots, who visit Spring Valley Thursday.

Emilee Owens added 16 points as South jumped out to leads of 23-2 after one, 43-9 at halftime and 56-22 going into the fourth. Quinn Bolyard chipped in eight points, six dimes and five steals, Kenna Mace tallied eight points, Tae Richards grabbed eight rebounds and Olivia Conaway netted seven points. South shot 49% (24 for 49) from the floor.

Capital (0-3) was paced by Nunu Pannell’s 11 points.

Fort Frye 55, Parkersburg Catholic 34

CLARKSBURG — Ella Dowler canned five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 31 points to lead Fort Frye to a 55-34 win over Parkersburg Catholic as part of Friday’s Civil & Environmental Consultants Classic at Robert C. Byrd.

The Cadets (7-0) jumped out to a 21-11 lead after one. Catholic, playing in its first game of the season, trimmed the deficit to 26-21 by halftime but got outscored 17-7 in the third as FFHS took a 43-28 advantage into the final period.

Ava Huffman chipped in 15 points for the Cadets, who visit Eastern Thursday.

The Crusaderettes got 12 points from Ellie Kinnison and eight from Annie Tokodi-Ruth. They’ll look to bounce back Tuesday when they visit Calhoun County.

Robert C. Byrd 40, Ravenswood 36

CLARKSBURG — Jayme Salser had seven of her game-high 13 points at halftime as Ravenswood held a 17-7 cushion versus host Robert C. Byrd during Friday’s Civil & Environmental Consultants Classic, but the Eagles stormed back to secure a 40-36 victory.

The 3-1 Red Devils, who return to action on Monday, Dec. 29 versus Roane County at Ripley’s tournament, increased its advantage to 23-11 following a Marley Cole deuce, but RCB kept the rally going and scored the final eight points of the third to trim the deficit to 24-22 entering the fourth.

RCB was paced in scoring by Jada Sutherlin’s 10 points. Savanna Sherrard chipped in nine markers while Amirah Moore and Kendall Sturm tallied eight apiece.

Kassidy Shoemaker led Ravenswood with a quartet of assists while Rachel Lambert had nine points and seven caroms. Salser added four steals, three dimes and a block while teammates Emily Andrade and Zemory White contributed six counters each.

Boys

Waterford 51, Trimble 46 (OT)

GLOUSTER — Deadlocked at 41-41 after 32 minutes of play, Waterford outscored Trimble 10-5 in overtime to bring home a 51-46 victory Friday night.

The Wildcats (2-2) trailed 13-11 after one but outscored the Tomcats 13-8 in the second to go up 24-21 at halftime. It was 34-31 going into the fourth, when Trimble out-pointed WHS 10-7 to force the extra session.

Finn Pennock paced Waterford with 17 points and had seven rebounds. Gavin Hiener added 10 points plus team-highs of eight boards, three assists and two blocks. Reese Lang chipped in 10 points and West Fairchild tallied eight.

Waterford plays host to defending state champion Monroe Central on Tuesday.

Meigs 65, Warren 58

POMEROY — Warren’s Jackson Perdue went off for a career-high 35 points, but Meigs’ Carson Davis matched him to propel the Marauders to a 65-58 win Friday night.

Perdue knocked down four 3-pointers and went 11 for 14 at the free-throw line for the Warriors (1-3), who trailed 17-13 after one but cut it to 24-23 by halftime. Meigs (4-1) outscored Warren 17-15 in the third to take a 41-38 advantage into the final eight minutes and held on from there.

Like Perdue, Davis buried four treys and went 10 for 11 at the charity stripe for the Marauders. Owen Tracy was the only other player in the game to reach double figures at 16, while Griffin Hudson chipped in nine for the hosts.

Warren will look to snap a three-game skid Thursday at Fairfield Union.

Steubenville 57, Marietta 29

STEUBENVILLE — Down 10 at halftime, Marietta went into an offensive slump as host Steubenville pulled away for a 57-29 victory Friday.

The Big Red (3-0) outscored the Tigers (3-1) 29-11 in the second half.

Marietta, which got nine points from Logan Grosklos and six apiece from Trey Hawkins and Owen Riley, trailed 10-8 after one and 28-18 at halftime.

Steubenville had four players score in double figures, led by Landon Bowers’ 15. Tre’von Wiggins added 14 while Cole Bowers and Santino Haney finished with 12 each.

Wirt County 70, Valley 45

PINE GROVE — Wirt County used a 22-5 advantage in the second quarter to pull away from Valley here Friday night as the Tigers rolled to a 70-45 victory.

The Tigers, who led 18-14 after one, were paced by Braylan Dawson’s game-high 19 points. Tyler Smith (11) and Braxton Dennis (10) also cracked double figures while Alex Bevel pitched in seven counters along with Brayden Whipkey.

The Lumberjacks, now 0-2 with a home game Tuesday versus Magnolia, were led in scoring by Wyatt Rogers with 13 while Gaige Wichterman’s had nine.

Wirt County, which made eight 3s but converted just half of its dozen attempts from the free-throw line, will try to improve to 3-0 for first-year head coach Chad Williams when preseason Class A No. 9 Parkersburg Catholic invades Elizabeth on Wednesday.

Ripley 73, Sissonville 58

RIPLEY — Parker Smith and Blake Justice scored 18 points apiece to help lead Ripley to a 73-58 win over Sissonville Friday night.

The Vikings (2-0) led 18-11 after one, 40-19 at halftime and 54-42 going into the fourth.

Matthew Stellato tallied 11 points and Jackson Moore netted 10 as Ripley had four players score in double figures. Brady McVay chipped in eight.

Moore grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while Justice pulled down six to go along with five steals. Smith dished out four assists while McVay finished with four steals and three dimes.

The Vikings, who shot 41% (26 for 64), visit Princeton next Friday.

June Jackson led Sissonville (0-1) with 13 points. Aidan Stuck contributed nine.

Wood County Christian 74, Bridgeport 17

BRIDGEPORT — Peyton Russell outscored Bridgeport on his own, netting a game-high 20 points to help lift Wood County Christian to a 74-17 win over Bridgeport Friday night.

The Wildcats (1-0) also got 18 points from Daniel Cunnigham, 13 from Cameron Coppernoll and 11 from Asher Fenton.
