Hoops roundup: Ritchie girls reach century mark

ELLENBORO — Ritchie County reached the century mark Thursday.

The Rebels had four players reach double figures in a 102-22 victory over Calhoun County. Ritchie, which improved to 3-0, got a game-high 29 points from Elsa Law, who also notched 11 steals and eight assists.

Chelsie Jeffrey knocked down five 3-pointers for a 19-point effort to go along with six steals and five rebounds. Emily Bush added 14 points, four steals and three blocks while Abbigayl Cox chipped in 11 points for the Rebels, who shot 47.6% (39 for 82) from the floor. RCHS is back in action Saturday when it takes on Gilmer County at Robert C. Byrd.

Calhoun (0-3) was led by Kendall Snodgrass’s seven points. The Red Devils were held to just three field goals but went 13 for 18 from the free-throw line.

Boys

South Harrison 65, Tyler Consolidated 45

LOST CREEK — Tyler Consolidated dropped to 0-2 on the year with Thursday’s 65-45 loss at South Harrison.

The Hawks, who got 18 points from Joseph Feastermacher, led 16-11 after one, 28-17 at halftime and 45-33 going into the fourth. Cooper Sanders added 16 points, Adam Marple netted 11 and Collin Seguin chipped in nine.

The Silver Knights got 18 points from Landon Boggs and 13 from Brody Giovinazzo. They’ll play host to Wheeling Central Tuesday.
