Game notes: It’s been a tale of two seasons for both Scott and Williamstown. In 2024, Williamstown finished 10-3 after advancing to the Class AA semifinals, while Scott closed out the campaign at 9-3 while reaching the state quarterfinal round. This season, Williamstown is currently ranked No. 18, while Scott checks in at No. 24. Last year’s regular-season finale between the two schools featured two touchdown passes from Nate Easterling, who returns as the starting QB this season for the Skyhawks. Scott will not be a member of the postseason for the first time since 2020. Williamstown is 0-3 versus Scott.

Key CMHS players: RB Turner Bailey, QB Bryson Smith, WR Keian Shelton, RB Logan Shull
Key PSHS players: QB Kinzyn Lutchmansingh, QB Collin Hayes, RB Asa Yost, DE Kamero Jackson
Game notes: It seems like it’s been next man up for first-year Parkersburg South head coach Larry Thompson all season long and now it’s senior night.
The No. 15 Patriots are trying to avoid bookend four-game losing streaks in this quad-A battle with the No. 19 Knights.
Parkersburg South, which is likely going to qualify for the postseason, will lock up a spot with a victory.
Limiting turnovers and winning the battle of the trenches are key if the Patriots are to attain win number three.
WIRT AT ST. MARYS
Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Last year’s score Wirt County 42, St. Marys 7
WCHS (7-2) results: lost to Eastern, 47-13; d. Magnolia, 47-12; d. Calhoun County, 42-12; d. Gilmer County, 55-26; lost to Wahama, 55-6; d. Webster County, 54-6; d. Pocahontas County,4 6-14; d. Valley, 42-6; d. Tolsia, 31-28

WCHS key players: QB Tyler Smith, RB Anthony Morgan, WR Andrew Lemley, TE Easton Wyer
SMHS key players: QB Jeremiah DeMoss, RB Eli Wilson, DE Jace Larsen, DB Eli Cox
Game notes: It doesn’t get any bigger than this one set for Bill Hanlin Stadium.
The Class A showdown has huge implications as the No. 8 Blue Devils are trying to secure an opening round home playoff tilt by capping the regular season on a seven-game winning streak.
No. 9 Wirt County, which survived two-win Tolsia’s senior night upset bid last week, is on a four-game win streak.
Last year’s victory by the orange and black snapped a 12-game losing skid to the Blue Devils, who have never tasted defeat in this series at Bill Hanlin Stadium.
Wirt County will secure a top-eight seed with a victory while there’s also a chance the two teams could have a repeat of 2012 when the Tigers won in the regular season at Imlay Field only to lose in the first round of the playoffs to the host Blue Devils.
GILMER AT GREENBRIER WEST
Game time: 7 p.m. Friday
Last year’s score: Did not meet

Key GCHS players: QB Remi Huffman, RB Tyler Ratliff, WR Lex Grogg, OL Brier Gray
Key GWHS players: QB Colton Dunbar, WR Mason Ward, RB Kameron Parker, WR Kamden Sams
Game notes: Win and you’re in.
That’s the situation facing No. 16 Gilmer County as the Titans of head coach Tommy Hamric are on the single-A playoff bubble.
The Cavaliers, who check it at No. 13 in the latest Class A ratings, will have homefield advantage in Charmco at Cavalier Stadium.
This marks the first ever gridiron meeting between the two schools.
In order for the Titans to come out victorious they must find a way to slow down the dual-threat signal-caller Dunbar.
MAGNOLIA AT CLAY-BATTELLE
Game time: 7 p.m. Friday
Last year’s score: Magnolia 14, Clay-Battelle 12
MHS (2-7) results: lost to Wirt County, 47-12; lost to River, 42-0; lost to Bridgeport, 42-18; lost to Monroe Central, 47-12; lost to Tyler Consolidated, 35-0; lost to Frontier, 34-22; lost to St. Marys, 44-14; d. Mount View, 22-0; d. Valley, 46-6
CBHS (8-1) results: lost to Cameron, 22-16; d. Frontier, 42-20; d. Valley, 48-6; d. Gilmer County, 58-6; d. Meadow Bridge, 54-12; d. Richwood, 47-6; d. River View, 40-18; d. Sherman, 16-14; d. Oak Glen, 16-8
Key MHS players: QB Kingston Christen, RB Greg Moore, WR Finn Loy, WR Lucas Anderson
Key CBHS players: QB Corey Coen, RB Caleb Hall, WR Braden Ponceroff, WR Cody Clovis
Game notes: It’s been a long season for the Blue Eagles, but head coach Craig Mason’s program has continued to fight all the way through.
Magnolia, which is trying to end the campaign with a third successive triumph, has scored 68 points on its two-game winning streak.
The Cee Bees, who haven’t lost since their opener versus Cameron, will be out to lock down the No. 3 seed in Class A, which would be the highest finish in program history.
The Blue Eagles aren’t going to amass enough points to qualify for the playoffs, but a win would knock Clay-Battelle out of a top four seed.
If Magnolia can have a plus effort in the turnover department and establish a running game this affair could come down to the wire just like last year.
DODDRIDGE ATMINGO CENTRAL
Game time: 7 p.m. Friday

Mingo Central key players: Keziah Joplin (WR/CB), Terrindez Bryant (WR/DB), Jamere Knuckles(QB/P), Aidan Burke (WR/FS), Jace “Bam” Coleman (RB/CB)
Game notes: In the first meeting between the two schools, Mingo Central is facing its third unbeaten opponent in the past four weeks. The Miners’ coaching staff sat Marshall University recruit Aidan Burke out of last week’s loss to Chapmanville, but the team’s top receiver and defensive back is available for Doddridge County. Mingo Central, which won a state title in 2016 and last appeared in the postseason in 2023, is ranked No. 8 in Class AA, while DCHS is No. 5. The Bulldogs are seeking to close out the program’s first undefeated regular season since accomplishing the feat in consecutive years from 2018-19.
SOUTH HARRISON AT RAVENSWOOD

South Harrison key players: Shepard Paugh (RB/LB), Zane Harlow (RB/DL)
Ravenswood key players: Jacob Simmons (RB/OLB), Owen Curtis (QB/OLB)
Game notes: South Harrison is on the proverbial playoff bubble as the No. 14 team in Class AA. The series between South Harrison and Ravenswood began on an annual basis in 2023. The Hawks have won the two previous meetings. The Hawks, who had an open week last week, are seeking a postseason bid for the second straight year. In their last game, the Hawks limited Tyler Consolidated running back Gideon Winfrey to 32 yards rushing and allowed the Knights’ ground game to a mere 56 yards.

Nicholas County key players: Colton Hellems (QB), Devin Nash (RB), Lucas Milam (WR)
Game notes: Nicholas County at Ripley are two teams both trying to stay away from yet another loss. Nicholas County failed on a two-point conversion in the final three minutes against Independence and suffered a fifth straight defeat, while Ripley lost to Parkersburg prior to last week’s open week despite Cody Lawson’s 206 yards on 25 carries and two touchdowns. This week marks the fifth meeting between the two schools. They first met in consecutive years in 1970 and 1971. Ripley leads the series 3-1.
CALHOUN AT RITCHIE
Game time: 7 p.m. Friday
Last year’s result: Ritchie 54, Calhoun 0

Ritchie (3-6): lost to Tyler, 38-14; lost to Doddridge, 48-0; lost to South Harrison, 60-34; lost to Braxton, 16-6; d. Gilmer, 40-12; lost to Wahama, 53-8; d. Tygarts Valley, 26-12; lost to St. Marys 51-16; d. Ravenswood, 48-22
Key Calhoun players: QB Brennen Carpenter; RB Charter Cottrell; DB Chase Schoolcraft
Key Ritchie players: QB Turner Shriver; RB Carter Satterfield; WR Kellen Cress
Game notes: Ritchie County is clinging to a Class A playoff spot while Calhoun County is on the outside looking in heading into Friday’s matchup in Ellenboro.
Both squads are 3-6 with one game to go, and Friday’s result could have serious postseason implications.
The Rebels and Red Devils are led by dual-threat quarterbacks. Turner Shriver fuels the RCHS offense while Brennen Carpenter is the one who makes CCHS go.
Both teams are coming off wins where they scored 40-plus points. This one has the potential to be a shootout.
ROANE AT TYLER
Game time: 7 p.m. Friday
Last year’s result: did not meet
Roane (8-1): d. Greenbrier West, 67-16; d. Clay, 49-14; lost to Williamstown, 45-21; d. Braxton, 46-20; d. Ripley, 38-36; d. Ravenswood, 48-0; d. Scott, 42-0; d. Nicholas, 38-12; d. Poca, 44-0
Tyler (4-5): d. Ritchie, 38-14; lost to Wahama, 28-13; lost to Doddridge, 47-8; lost to Petersburg, 28-13; d. Cameron, 14-12; d. Magnolia, 35-0; d. Oak Glen, 29-21; lost to South Harrison, 22-14; lost to St. Marys, 21-18
Key Roane players: RB Javon Letourneau; RB Koltyn Starcher; DL Garrett Brabham
Key Tyler players: RB Gideon Winfrey; QB Ashton Morris; WR Kolbin Highley
Game notes: Two teams going in opposite directions, Roane County is set to visit Tyler Consolidated Friday night.
The Raiders have won six straight after suffering their only loss of the season to Williamstown, while the Silver Knights have dropped two in a row after a 4-3 start.
Roane currently is sixth in the Class AA ratings with hopes of hosting a playoff game. Tyler needs a win over Roane and some help to sneak in as the Knights are currently 19th in double-A.
The key to this game comes down to one question — can Tyler slow Roane’s run game.
If they can, they’ll have a shot to win. If they can’t, they’re going to have a hard time coming out on top.
