Doddridge boys win Jeremy Anderson Invite

BEVERLY — Shenandoah’s Ida Estadt repeated as the girls champion, Warren’s Luke Rettenberger won his third straight race to start the season and the Warren girls and Doddridge County boys claimed the team titles during Saturday’s Jeremy Anderson Invitational at Fort Frye.
Estadt, who clocked in at 19 minutes, 4 seconds last year, crossed the finish line in 18:30 this season to best runner-up Hailey Powell of Marietta (19:09).
St. Marys’ Anna Bennett placed third overall with a time of 19:51 while teammate Savana Burd also finished in the top 10 in eighth at 20:40. The Blue Devils placed runner-up as a team, falling to Warren 37-48. Maddie Smith (16th; 22:01), Brooklyn Davis (25th; 23:13) and Sidni Gerlach (29th; 23:38) also scored for SMHS.
The Warriors had four girls place in the top 20, starting with Ashlee Pate in fourth place. Pate clocked in at 20:11. Not far behind was Rania Singh, who finished 10th at 21:03. Adi Greenup was 12th (21:06), Cate Edgell placed 19th (22:21) and Julianna Huffman came in 22nd (22:37) to help lead Warren to victory.
The Tigers, who finished third as a team, saw Teagan Brown (20th; 22:21) join Powell in the top 20. Kelly Nicholas was 23rd (22:56), Aubrey Christensen was 37th (24:32) and Kathryn Anderson placed 39th (24:34).

Belpre, led by Shy Miller’s 13th-place finish (21:20), placed fourth as a team while Waterford, which saw Emma Schaad place 11th (21:05), came in fifth.
Rounding out the girls top 10 was Crooksville’s Hannah Sheets in fifth (20:15), Ravenswood’s Riley Sotomayor in sixth (20:27), Doddridge County’s Emily Cottrill in seventh (20:35) and Southern’s Edie Templeton in ninth (21:02).
Last year’s runner-up with a time of 15:30, Rettenberger would not be denied this time around. He surged through the finish line in 15:25, adding another title to his collection after winning at Marietta’s Broughton Invite and Warren’s Scenic Hills Invite.
Teammate Caleb Yost joined Rettenberger in the top 10, finishing seventh at 16:48. Fellow Warriors Alex Bishop (14th; 17:12), Nick Bishop (30th; 18:02) and Clay Perry (33rd; 18:19) helped the team finish runner-up to Doddridge 69-79.
The champion Bulldogs saw Carter Sias (3rd; 15:57) and Cory Swentzel (10th; 16:57) finish in the 10. Samuel Gola was just outside in 12th (16:59) while Jacob Berke (21st; 17:38) and Noah Bodkin (17:59) also scored.

Ian Putnam’s fourth-place finish (16:16) powered Marietta to fourth place in the team standings. The Tigers also got points from Emmett Parman (17th; 17:25), Ezekiel Minard (25th; 17:45), Camden Space (27th; 17:47) and Austin Shuler (63rd; 19:46).
Behind Bryce Bills’ eighth-place finish (16:50), St. Marys finished fifth as a team.
Ravenswood, which came in seventh, got a top 10 finish from Gavin Wilburn (9th; 16:56).
Joining Rettenberger and Sias as the only runners to record sub-16:00 times was Waterford’s Gavin Offenberger, who finished in 15:54 to place second.
River Valley’s Jansyn Smith (5th; 16:25) and Southern’s Andre Chandler (6th; 16:48) made up the remainder of the top 10.

Host Fort Frye finished ninth as a team, led by Brody Griffin’s 11th-place performance. The junior crossed the finish line in 16:58.
