COLUMBUS, Ohio — A pair of Warren Warriors found themselves on the All-Ohio podium together during Friday’s OHSAA state track championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Junior Sydney Starcher cleared 5 feet, 4 inches in the high jump to place fifth while teammate Amanda Rauch, a senior, hit 5-2 to finish tied for sixth as both athletes earned all-state status.

Starcher, who also cleared 5-4 last year but placed ninth in the event to miss All-Ohio honors by one spot, missed her first two attempts at 5-4 Friday before clearing on the third try.

Rauch, who will also compete in the pole vault at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, was one of six girls to finish at 5-2. Four of those girls, including Rauch, cleared it on their first try to finish tied for sixth. The other two finished tied for 10th and missed out on the podium.

Warren also had Clay Perry competing on the boys side. He was 12th in the 300 hurdles prelims with a time of 38.47.

In the long jump, Barnett finished ninth at 21-1.25.

Montle, the returning runner-up in the event after clearing 12-2 last year, hit 12-4 on second try. She was almost out at 12-0, missing her first two tries before succeeding on the third.
