BELMONT --Things weren't looking too good for head coach Ann Skufca's Warren Warriors following the first two sets of Saturday's Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 5A volleyball championship match against Morgantown at Union Local High School.
The Mohigans, who received a match-high 16 kills from Kaitlyn Anderson, took the opening set 25-19 and set two by a score of 25-20.
However, the Warriors battled back to win set three, 25-16, and forced a winner-take-all fifth set after securing a 25-23 set four triumph. Morgantown came up short in set five, 15-9.
The Warriors had double figure kill totals from Madyson Long (15), Makenna Long (13) and Sydney Starcher (10) as setter Payge Cornell was credited with a match-high 38 assists. Alexa Lewis chipped in four kills, four assists and a trio of aces for the Warriors, who also received two blocks, an ace and one downed spike from Maddie Stealey. Cornell and Madyson Long, who had a team-high 15 digs, served up two aces apiece.

Wellsville tops WCC for 1A crown
BELMONT -- Second-seeded Wellsville served up a dozen aces here Saturday in the Class 1A championship match as No. 1 seed Wood County Christian was upset by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18.
Presley Stokes posted a double-double for the victors with 12 kills and 15 digs. Sam Drysdale added six kills, Brooke Hackney had five while McKenzie Nixon and Bella Poppelrtier put down four apiece.
Wood County Christian's Haley Wilkinson tied for match-high kills honors with a dozen.
Sophia Thibault had a match-high 30 digs and Gracie Duncan added a match-high four blocks in the setback.
The 19-4 Wildcats also received seven kills from Camryn Yoho as well as six downed spikes by Skylar Wilkinson, who had a trio of stuffs.
Sophie Seckman joined Duncan with two kills apiece, Rowyn Wharton registered a match-high 29 assists and Kylee Border finished with seven digs for the Wildcats.
