WHEELING -- Parkersburg Post 15 did anything but tax their arms after defeating Wellsburg Post 34, 10-0, in five innings in the opening round of the Area 1 Tournament Monday at the I-470 complex.
Brady Swain earned the win after throwing three innings of no-hit ball. He walked two and struck out four. Izek Baldwin cleaned up the final two innings, allowing just one single and striking out four. Baldwin did not walk a batter.
Offensively for Post 15, Evan Swain and Bentley Kinzer both contributed two hits the team's eight-hit attack. Kinzer and Caden Parker each tripled, while Evan Swain doubled.
Both Colin McCarter and Kinzer knocked in a pair of runs. Evan Swain, Parker and Baldwin combined for six runs scored.
Post 15 meets Wheeling Post 1 in a winner's bracket game at 6 p.m. today at Wheeling Park High School.
