SISTERSVILLE — Locals Tripp Morrison of St. Marys and Bentley Myers of Harrisville opened Sunday’s Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League season at Sistersville Country Club with wins in their respective divisions.

Morrison won the nine-hole AAA Division and Myers took home top honors in the nine-hole AA Division. South Charleston’s Harrison Adams bested the field in the six-hole A Division.

The Pleasants County golfer shot a round of 40, which was four strokes better than runners-up J.J. Smith of Middlebourne and Austin Donohew of Evans.

Glen Dale’s Drew Marling placed fourth after carding a 45 in AAA. Williamstown’s Will Coiner and Middlebourne’s Titus Smith were a stroke back and tied for fifth. The only other golfer to break 50 was Sistersville’s John Mace, whose 49 was good for seventh.

Myers claimed the AA crown by finishing two strokes ahead of Weston’s Mason Karp, who had a 46.

The top five consisted of Davisville’s Sophie Nisewarner and Williamstown’s Layne Stewart, who tied for third with 61s, along with Mineral Wells’ Paul Eddy and Marietta’s Kane Salyer finishing one back and tied for fifth.

Adams’ 30 was good enough for the win in A by two strokes over Morgantown’s Corban Phillips.

The other three golfers competing were Sistersville’s Parker Zwick (36), Paden City’s Connor Yost (38) and Parkersburg’s Carter James (42).

The CJTRL, which is sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association, returns to action on Sunday at the Minibel Par 3 Golf Course in Vienna.
