COWEN, W.Va. -- Doddridge County senior Lexi Lamb defended her Little Kanawha Conference cross country title here Thursday at Big Ditch Lake while Williamstown's Chase Trembly also claimed top honors.
The senior Trembly, who just nipped teammate Julian Johnson (17:34 to 17:35) for the title, was closely followed by fellow 'Jackets Zach Cannon (4th, 18:15) and Will Coiner (5th, 18:18). Frank Conner, who made second team all-LKC, placed 15th and was the final scorer for WHS, which defended its team title by posting a 24-66 victory versus Doddridge County.
Lamb crossed in 19 minutes and 22 seconds for the Bulldogs, who also repeated as team champions. DCHS had 41 points to best Williamstown, which was without top-ranked thinclad Alyssa Sauro, and its team total of 44.
Katie Cottrill finished runner-up for the Bulldogs with a clocking of 20 minutes and 43 seconds. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Bailey Holden (6th, 21:20), Cassie Cumberledge (11th, 22:00) and Emily Gola (23rd, 23:32).
Williamstown's top effort came from Ava Lightfritz, who placed fifth after finishing in 21 minutes and 20 seconds. WHS also had first team all-LKC showings from Sydney Anderson (7th, 21:20), Brianna Winsett (8th, 21:35) and Lexi Wynn (9th, 21:40). Brookelyn Reynolds placed 16th with a time of 22:32 to earn second team all-LKC honors.
The other first team all-LKC finishers for the girls were Braxton County's Addison Lloyd (3rd, 21:00.6), St. Marys' Virginia Haddox (4th, 21:00.7), Ritchie County's Bentlee Williams (10th, 21:58) as well as Braxton County's Bethany Payne, who took the final spot in 12th place with a 22:03.
Doddridge County's Noah Sias took third with a time of 18 minutes and nine seconds. The only other Bulldog to earn first team status was Gunnar Kimball (12th, 19:21). Josh Berke (14th, 19:27) and Trey McDonough (17th, 19:50) made the all-LKC second team for the Bulldogs, who also had a scoring run from Noah Bodkin (33rd, 21:07).
Ravenswood's Cade Curfman finished sixth with a time of 18:28, which was five and six seconds ahead, respectively, of Tyler Consolidated teammates Jaden Ebert and Amos Kimble. Ritchie County's Heath Knight was ninth (18:41). St. Marys teammates Reece Westfall (10th, 18:57) and Max Dauch (11th, 19:15) were also first team.
Also making second team all-LKC for the boys were Clay County's Sawyer Dobbins (13th, 19:21), Ritchie County's Alex Owens (16th, 19:47) and Dalton Settle (21st, 20:15), South Harrison's Spencer Nolan (18th, 19:51), St. Marys' Micah Evans (19th, 20:00), Christian Houser (20th, 20:11), and Adam Bennett (24th, 20:33) as well as Wirt County's Matthew Balis (22nd, 20:24) and Yellowjacket Cooper Schall (23rd, 20:26).
