CHILLICOTHE -- In their second trip to the Sweet 16 in program history, the Warren Warriors left everything on the court.
Unfortunately for the royal blue and white, they came up just short in a thrilling 52-51 overtime loss to Meadowbrook in a Division II regional semifinal Thursday at Southeastern High School.
Warren (17-4) led 16-12 after a quarter and 21-17 at halftime. Meadowbrook (24-2) took its first lead of the game at the 1:59 mark in the third quarter on Johna McCall's 3-pointer, but Seth Dennis answered with a pair of free throws to make it 33-32 going into the fourth.
Meadowbrook went ahead 40-37 midway through the fourth, but Jake Baumgard converted a huge three-point play to tie it at 40-all with 3:19 to go.
Jake Singleton answered with a 3 to put the Colts back up, but Dennis and Brayden Sallee hit back-to-back baskets to make it 44-43, Warren, with a minute left.
Jerome Todd was fouled with 45 seconds to go and made 1 of 2 at the line to tie it. Dennis' shot in the final seconds was off the mark to send it to OT.
Singleton knocked down a 3 with 1:59 to go in overtime, putting Meadowbrook up 49-46. Some craziness ensued as Todd was fouled, then called for a technical foul.
Todd missed the front end of the 1-and-1 before Dennis missed both technical freebies to keep the score at 49-46.
With 40 seconds left, Kurt Taylor's 3 was off the mark but Baumgard got the offensive board and put it in to make it 49-48.
On the other end, Singleton made 1 of 2 at the line to make it a two-point game. With 20 seconds left, Dennis drained a 3 to put Warren up one, but Meadowbrook quickly brought the ball up the court and drew a foul. Singleton made both freebies to make it 52-51 with eight seconds left.
Dennis brought the ball up the court and dished to Sallee on the wing, but he was called for a travel with a second left. Meadowbrook inbounded the ball to end the game.
Dennis led all scorers with 18 points.
Baumgard added nine, Sallee scored eight, Joel Chevalier netted seven, Taylor tallied five and Josh Welch finished with four.
Meadowbrook, which plays Columbus DeSales at 3 p.m. Saturday in the regional final, got 16 points from Singleton, 14 from Todd, 10 from McCall and six apiece from Davis Singleton and Drew Webster.
