MARIETTA -- After losing by 19 points on the road at Dover last week, the Marietta Tigers were looking to return the favor Firday night when they welcomed the Tornadoes to Sutton Gym for an East Central Ohio League rematch.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, it was more of the same, as Dover canned 10 3-point shots and turned the ball over just three times the entire game as they doubled up on the Tigers 70-35 to improve to 12-4 on the season.
Junior guard T.C. Molk poured in a game-high 26 points.
As a result, the Crimson Tornadoes pulled out to a double-digit first quarter lead and then blew things wide open with a 26-point third quarter to easily down the Tigers.
Marietta scored the first three points of the game but it would be all Dover after that as they knocked down five triples in the first eight minutes including three by junior Ayden Hall and a pair from Molk.
Dover scored the final eight points of the opening quarter to take a 19-8 lead and after Tiger senior Tony Munos opened the second half with a field goal, the Tornadoes went on another 9-0 run to push their lead to 28-10 late in the first half.
Tiger senior Adam Coil sent the home team to the locker room on a high note as he came up with a steal and drove the length of the court for a basket to cut the Dover lead to 28-12 at the break.
Molk almost single handily put to rest any Tiger hopes of a second-half comeback as he scored all 12 Dover points in a 12-2 run to open the third quarter that gave the Bob Von Kaenel-coached Tornadoes a comfortable 40-14 lead.
Munos had a big third quarter as well for MHS as he scored 13 points of his own including a pair of old-fashioned three-point plays.
Dover finished the third period with a comfortable 54-29 lead and both teams emptied their benches midway through the final period with the final outcome long since decided.
The Tornadoes out-rebounded the Tigers by a healthy 37-23 margin and got assists on 21 of their 27 field goals compared to just four for Marietta.
Molk connected on 10-of-16 field goal attempts on the night including 5-for-8 from behind the arc while also dishing out five assists and pulling down five rebounds.
Hall added 18 points for the winners including four triples while also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four dimes while Mikey Beal led the visitors with nine boards.
Munos was pretty much the Tigers lone source of offense as he scored 20 of the 35 MHS points while fellow senior Tyler Kytta added six.
Coil led the white and orange with nine rebounds while scoring four points.
Marietta played a couple of players short as starter A.J. Graham and sixth-man Tyson Shaffer were both unable to play due to contact tracing.
Dover improved to 12-4, while the Tigers slipped to 6-11. The Tigers will host Cambridge on Wednesday night.
