Ripley 68, Hurricane 62
RIPLEY--Thanks to Ty Johnson's double-double (26 points and 11 rebounds) performance and three others scoring in double digits, Ripley came away with a 68-62 tightly contested home win versus Hurricane Wednesday night.
Viking teammates Tobias Scholl scored 14 points (nine coming from 3's) and had four assists, Isaac Roberston had 12 markers and four dimes while Jacoub Fouty tallied 10 points and two steals.
Ripley, which took a 38-20 lead going into halftime, only managed to score six points at the start of the second half. The Redskins scored 18 points to cut into the Viking lead at 44-38 going into the final period of play.
Hurricane was paced by Austin Womack (23 points) and Austin Dearing (21 points, seven rebounds and six assists).
Warren 64,
Vinton County 44
LOGAN, Ohio -- Warren outscored Vinton County 29-7 in the third quarter of Wednesday's Division II sectional semifinal at Jim Myers Gymnasium, turning a competitive game into a blowout that the Warriors went on to win 64-44.
The Warriors advanced to the sectional final at 7 p.m. Saturday, when they will take on top-seeded Fairfield Union.
It was 24-21 Wednesday as the Warriors were clinging to a halftime advantage. Things changed in the third though, as Warren scored the first seven points of the period and never looked back.
Brayden Sallee led Warren with 14 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Brandon Simoniette added 13 points, Jake Baumgard tacked on 11, Kurt Taylor tallied nine and Joel Chevalier chipped in eight points, five assists and two steals.
The Vikings were paced by Lance Montgomery's 10 points and five steals. Gavin Arbaugh contributed nine points and seven boards.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sissonville 60,
Clay County 56
CLAY --A game that went down to the wire swung Sissonville's way, as the Indians topped host Clay County here Wednesday, 60-56.
Clay County (1-21) had a balanced scoring effort, headlined by the duo of Brooklyn Burford and Alyssa Deal, and they led with 11 points apiece in the loss.
Sydney Farmer paced Sissonville (7-15) with 19 points in the victory, and she was closely followed by Alexis Bailey's 16 points.
Now, CCHS turns its attention to Herbert Hoover in Saturday night's sectional semifinal action at Elk View Middle School.
