No. 3 Greenbrier East 65, Parkersburg South 57
LEWISBURG --Parkersburg South was unable to come away with a road win here Friday night, as the No. 3 ranked team in triple-A Greenbrier East won 65-57.
Parkersburg South was leading 40-38 entering the final period of play, but was done in by the Spartans scoring 27 points compared to 17 scored by South.
Makenna Winans finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 boards and Sklyar Bosley had a team-high 17 points.
The Spartans were paced by Cadence Stewart's game-high of 18 points, while Haley McClure (17) and Amya Damon (12) also finished with double figures in points.
Gilmer 72, Clay 41
GLENVILLE -- Trinity Bancroft drained a quartet of 3s and finished with a game-high 25 points here Friday night to help lead Class A, No. 5 Gilmer County to a 72-41 blowout of Clay County.
The 11-3 Titans, who play Tuesday at Doddridge County, also got a trio of 3s from Grace Wellings en route to her dozen counters. Emma Taylor and Malaysia Morgan tallied 13 points apiece for the hosts.
Clay Couny (0-16), which trailed 26-8 after a quarter, received a 14-point effort from Lexi Ramsey.
Paris Williams chipped in nine points.
Wood County Christian 51,
Teays Valley Christian 36
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Stella Dunn nailed five 3-pointers as Wood County Christian entered double digits in the win column with 51-36 win over Teays Valley Christian here Friday night.
Dunn finished with a game-high 18 points. Sarah Michael and Sidney Strause also finished with double-digit scoring nights with a baker's dozen each.
Sammy Stephenson and Chloe Harper paced Teays Valley with eight points each.
The Wildcats' visitors kept the score close to the first quarter at 16-13, before Wood County Christian took control.
Michael's six steals and nine rebounds helped keep Teays off balance and in single digit scoring totals the remainder of the game.
Calhoun County 59, Webster County 47
MT. ZION --The Calhoun Red Devils jumped out a 36-15 lead going into halftime and coasted to a 59-47 victory past Webster County for the Red Devils' fifth straight win here Friday night.
The Red Devils (10-5) had three scorers in double figures and was paced by Josie Montgomery's team-high 18 points.
Madison Dennis finished with 12 points and Savannah Cunningham had 11.
Webster's Syd Baird scored 21 out of her game-high 31 points in the Highlanders' second-half comeback bid.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Wirt 63, Tyler 40
ELIZABETH -- Kyler Carper and Justin Windland each double-doubled during Wirt County's 63-40 Little Kanawha Conference West Division victory Friday night versus Tyler Consolidated.
Carper, who had four blocks, finished with game-highs of 21 points and 16 rebounds. Windland, who swatted two shots, tallied 18 points with 10 boards and four assists.
Nathan Murray contributed 11 points and Michael Grishaber had five assists for the Tigers (5-8, 1-6), who play host Tuesday to Ravenswood.
The Silver Knights (3-10, 0-7), who played the game without Mark Rucker who was on a football visit to Old Dominion, got nine points from Noah Swiger and seven by Justin Bowman.
Roane County 46, Ravenswood 29
SPENCER --Roane County scored just three points in the first quarter, but Ravenswood couldn't find its shooting touch here Friday night as the Red Devils came up short, 46-29.
Brayden Miller and Isaac Ryan had 12 points apiece to tie for game-high scoring honors for the 8-6 Raiders, who also got eight points and seven rebounds from Lee Keaton.
Ravenswood, which played without guard Trey Mandrake, was paced by Devin Raines' 14 points, two assists and two steals.
The Red Devils (7-6) play Tuesday at Wirt County and the Raiders play host to Clay County next Friday
Teays Valley Christian 77,
Wood County Christian 62
WILLIAMSTOWN -- A combination of Andrew Breeding going for a game-high 29 points and Wood County Christian being ice cold from the field here Friday night allowed Teays Valley Christian to secure a 77-62 win.
TVC (14-2) also received 11 points apiece from Josh Cook and Brandon Cook.
The Wildcats (4-15), who play at 7 p.m. Monday at Morgantown Trinity, were paced by Garrett Napier's 17 points. Trey Davis had a dozen counters, five assists, four steals and two blocks for WCC, which also received seven points and 18 rebounds from Camden Huck as well seven tallies and a baker's dozen boards by Tucker Dougherty.
Ripley 60, Nitro 56
RIPLEY -- Ripley took full advantage of a fast start in the opening quarter on the way to a 60-56 win over Class AA Nitro.
The Wildcats managed to grab the lead in the second period, but couldn't keep the momentum up the rest of the contest.
Viking players outscored their guests 35-28 in the closing 16 minutes.
Ty Johnson stuffed the stat sheet for Ripley. He tallied a team-high 18 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Trevor Lowe led Nitro with 20 points.
WVHIT First Round
Ritchie County 60,
East Hardy 54
ELLENBORO -- Visiting East Hardy came to play Friday night in the opening round of the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament.
Unfortunately for the Cougars, Ritchie County came out more prepared in the second and third quarters.
Rick Haught's Rebels outscored their visitors 28-20 on the way to a 60-54 win. Adam Davis led Ritchie County with 16 points. Graden McKinney also chipped in 15 markers.
East Hardy was led by Justin Teets' 12 points.

HUNTINGTON -- Point Pleasant held a 125-105 lead against Parkersburg South following Friday's competition at the WSAZ Invite inside Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
