BOYS BASKETBALL

Braxton 63, Calhoun 45

MT. ZION–Braxton County’s Jadyn Stewart scored his 1,000th career point with 1:47 left in the first quarter in the Eagles’ 63-45 road win versus Calhoun County here Wednesday night.

Stewart finished with a game-high of 25 points and pulled down six boards. Jett Cogar had 11 points and Hunter James (10) rouned out the double-figure scoring for the 6-1 Eagles.

Calhoun’s (2-6) Adam Parsons and Nick Moore did their part to get keep the Red Devils in the game, as Moore scored 22 points, 17 rebounds, and seven blocks. Parsons also had 17 points and the only made 3 for Calhoun.

Clay 82, Nicholas 57

CLAY — Clay County had four players reach double figures in scoring Wednesday in an 82-57 win over Nicholas County.

Curtis Litton led the way with a 20-point, 14-rebound double-double. Colton Pritt added 18 points, Elijah Payton netted 16 and Tanner Faulkner tallied 11 for the Panthers, who improved to 5-2 and play host to Roane County Friday.

Nicholas was led by Colby Pishner’s 14 points. Riley Nicholas added 12 while PJ Comas chipped in 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marietta 50, Dover 41

DOVER, Ohio — Adi Hill and Jessica Smith scored 13 points apiece to help lead Marietta past Dover, 50-41, Thursday.

Morgan Altenburger added 11 while Hannah Kroft chipped in 10 as the Tigers avenged a loss to the Tornadoes from earlier in the year.

Caldwell 41,

Buckeye Trail 26

CALDWELL, Ohio — The Caldwell girls improved to 7-5 overall with a 41-26 win over Buckeye Trail Wednesday.

The Redskins held the Warriors to just two first-quarter points and six in the second for a 24-8 halftime lead.

Cayton Secrest flirted with a quadruple-double, finishing with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and eight steals.

Jules Hood led all scorers with 11 points while Sheridan Archer added eight points, eight boards, four steals and four blocks for Caldwell.

Trail was paced by Brooke Baird’s 10 markers.
