ALBRIGHT: Ravenswood’s Hunt rises to the occasion

Give it up for Ravenswood point guard Annie Hunt. Commend her in any way you choose, it really doesn’t matter. Perhaps, deliver her a round of applause. Or throw your hands in the air and wave them around like you just don’t care. Maybe, whip your head back and forth, whip your head back and forth. Seriously! Nothing anyone does is too extreme when it comes to extoling what Hunt has been doing for her team. Everything is notable, important, and oozes unselfishness. It is all worthy of praise. Look, as the lone senior, she easily eyed the opportunity to set her own agenda. ...

BENNETT: Catching up with Braxton Amos

I had a more than interesting catch-up conversation earlier this week with Wisconsin’s Braxton Amos, who last weekend finished runner-up in Greco-Roman at 97 kg to G’Angelo Hancock at the United State Olympic Team Trials. Many subjects were broached, but suffice it to say Mr. Amos definitely is a born and bred Mountaineer. In essence, the planned two-day meet set for April 20-21 in Morgantown was nixed to just one day. That means no preliminary races and just a one-day timed finals. Many coaches throughout the Mountain State are not in agreement whatsoever with the decision. In fact, ...

BENNETT: Beauty of basketball

Many things are interesting. For instance, off the top of my head I could pick a plethora. The simplicity of basketball is honestly my favorite. There is just one ball and 10 players. The sole goal of said game is to have one more point than your opponent when time expires. Anyone who attempted to fill out an NCAA bracket correctly and had the likes of Ohio State, West Virginia and the ilk moving on are most definitely not in the 99%-tile of their competition. Speaking of competition, although I covered a lot of games this past winter in Ohio it’s exciting to be back ...
