MOV Parent: Lessons to remember in the new year
(MOV Parent - Graphic Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)
As it gets closer to saying goodbye to the year 2025, this is the perfect time to teach our children some new things to follow in 2026.
Build their confidence.
Teach problem-solving skills.
Teach them emotional intelligence.
Show them kindness and empathy. Also encourage them to help others and understand different perspectives.
Encourage independence.
Give age-appropriate responsibilities to prepare them for real life.
When kids are not listening, stay firm and kind.
Teach kids things money can’t buy.
Build respect and character, manners, common sense, trust, patience, integrity, love.
As a family, let’s keep rules that can keep peace in the house.
1) Apologize and forgive quickly
2) Eat together often
3) Support each other’s goals
4) Pray together daily
5) Speak kindly
6) Listen before responding
7) Be honest
8) Keep family matters private
9) Respect everyone’s space and privacy
10) Share with family chores and daily duties
Children learn more from watching you than listening to you.
Connection, not control is the foundation of discipline.
As parents we need to teach our kids ethics.
1) Take responsibility for your actions instead of blaming circumstances.
2) Help others in need.
3) Speak the truth, honesty builds real strength.
4) Always try to do the right thing and respect others the way you want others to respect you.
A good parent makes a big difference in the child’s life
1) They teach responsibility, not perfection
2) They apologize
3) When they are with their kids, make them feel valuable, and don’t be rushed .
4) Very important to praise your child’s achievements
5) Their effort
6) Their courage
7) Their curiosity about the world
8) Their ideas about improving things
9) Their willingness to try new things
10) The patience and respect for others
11) Spending intentional one-on-one time makes everyone feel valued.
12) Supporting its other goals, a family grows stronger like that and it is very important to have honest conversations.
Continue and tell them
13) I’m grateful for your presence in our family
14) I love this about you and your best qualities
15) You’re an inspiration to this family unit. No one is like you.
Provide your children with what they need and avoid spoiling. Teach them to say thank you, be a role model for gratitude and appreciation for what they have.
Nobody owes you anything, respect, love, success are earned, not given.
Failure at times is part of growth, but you will fail before you succeed.
Nobody can make you happy but yourself. Never hesitate to tell your child phrases to help them.
You’re safe, you’re loved. Whenever you’re ready to talk, I’m here for you. You never have to be perfect for me. I love the way you are. Your feelings make sense to me. You can always come to me. You’re safe with me even on tough days.
Children who copy parents do what they say, parents who apologize, teach real humility and respect.
And very important it’s not what it’s under the tree that matters it is who’s around it and my child when you write a letter to Santa Claus explain:
Dear Santa, I already have everything I could possibly want with toys, games, etc. I’ve got my family, good friends and love. Please take care of those who need you and I’m happy to share with them. Thank you.
And lastly, let’s teach our children “What is Christmas.” “It’s more than a day at the end of the year, more than a season of joy and good cheer. Christmas is really God’s pattern for living to be followed all the year by unselfish giving.”
For in giving to others and in being kind and finding joy and peace on earth that way we will have Christmas every day!
Don’t forget the most important gift to give your children this Christmas, your love and your time!
Wishing you the warm and wonderful blessings of Christmas!
Many Blessings!
Till next month.
