Many tears were shared from sadness as soon as local residents (now adults) when they heard that Vandy and Lincoln school will be demolished. It was heartbreaking for many that went to school spending six years at Lincoln and more at Vandy.
Well, all the above is happening for a reason and I know for many thousands of students it was hard because they had so many sentimental memories, such as sadness or nostalgia. Students gathered at the school, including my kids, grandkids that went there to visit for the last time their favorite schools where they spend thousands of hours learning. They embraced friends, teachers and principals and so on. They got together to say goodbye.
They went back and they took bricks to take home and to have memories of those two nice schools, along with pictures with all their friends and their favorite teachers. It is not the end of the world, but still it is a building that can tell stories for each student that entered the school doors.
I'm sure stories weren't always pleasant, but at that time there were priceless memories that would last a lifetime and be shared with friends and schoolmates. I'm sure beautiful buildings will be built in the same spot and everybody will be proud to accommodate all the latest needs for our students. But for so many it is still sad to drive by to see the school that they loved so much and it is no longer there.
Enough of that ... I want to thank all of you that came to see the Christmas concert last Sunday. It was absolutely fantastic and we love all of you music lovers to come back and visit us at the next concert on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
So much to do, so many activities, shopping, parties, one after the other, every other day seems like before we know all that will come to an end. In the meantime we enjoy every minute. What I like this time of the year is that all of us and the whole world in general celebrates the birth of our Jesus. Take advantage of all the Christmas activities that take place in our community, with family and friends. Build memories to last forever.
The story behind the 12 days of Christmas.
The song was written by Catholics in England as a catechism song to teach their children about the Christian faith. The songs "gifts" help remember the teachings of the faith.
"True love" refers to God. "Me" Refers to every Christian.
The other symbols mean the following:
1: Partridge in a pear tree: Jesus Christ
2: Turtle doves: The Old and New Testaments
3: French hens: Faith, hope, and charity or the father, son and Holy Spirit, Trinity.
4: Calling birds: The four gospels
5: Golden rings: First five books of the Old Testament
6: Geese-A-Laying: The six days of creation
7: Swans-A-swimming: The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 12:8-10)

Grilled Ham Steaks
4 ham slices, cut 3/4" thick
1/2 cup apricot preserves
1/2 cup of orange juice
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Combine preserves, orange juice, lemon juice, and ginger for basting sauce. Grill ham slices over hot fire for 10 minutes, basting frequently. Cut ham slices in half and serve.

Layered Ham Casserole
3 large potatoes
3 cups cubed cooked ham
1 1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
Pepper to taste
Peel and cook potatoes just until tender. Grade or rice potatoes. Place in well-buttered 9×13" dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place ham over potatoes. Whip cream and combine with horseradish and cheese. Spread over ham. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes until bubbly.

Delicious Christmas Torte
1 cup of butter
2 cups of sugar
6 eggs
1 (12 ounce ) box vanilla wafers
1/2 cup of milk
1 (7 ounce) package flaked coconut (optional)
1 cup chopped pecans
Powdered sugar as garnish
Whipped cream (optional)
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time while beating thoroughly. Crush vanilla wafers, and add alternating with the milk. Stir in coconut and pecans, pour into greased and floured 9" springform pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until done. (Do not overbake). Cool. Remove from pan. Sprinkle top with powdered sugar. Garnish with holly in center. May be served with whipped cream. Serves 10 to 12.
