Kiki’s Corner: An act of kindness

If you recall a couple weeks ago I mentioned in one of my articles that I always try to do an act of kindness whenever possible.
One day last week while shopping in a store in Marietta I was replacing my shopping cart before leaving. I happen to look down and saw a beautiful diamond ring which I instantly picked up. It was evident that it was someone’s wedding ring and they had lost it. I panicked and fear came over me as to how I was going to find the person that the ring belonged to. My first response was to go through the store asking all the ladies that were in the store at the time shopping which was disappointing that none had lost their ring. My next step was to go to the front desk to check to see if anyone had called about a lost ring, however the clerk had no idea about any lost ring. The lady wanted me to leave the ring with her in case someone calls to see if they found anything but rather than do that I left my name and phone number so they could contact me.
We left with the ring and headed back to Parkersburg in hopes that someone would eventually call. Heading to a restaurant to eat my phone rang and it was a lady that said she had lost her wedding ring but didn’t know where and was contacting everywhere she had been on Friday. – (this took place on Saturday and she had lost it on Friday). The store manager had called her and told her that I had found the ring and gave her my telephone number.
With all the scams going around lately I wanted to be sure and fortunately she sent me a picture of her ring which was exactly like the ring I had found.
She was so thrilled and anxious to get her ring back that we delayed our dinner plans and met her at Auntie Anne’s Pretzels in the Mall since she had to come from St Marys.
The mystery still remains how she could have lost the ring on Friday and I found it late on Saturday in plain sight in front of where they keep their store carts. I am so pleased to have been able to make her happy and return her sentimental wedding ring. It was also a pleasure meeting Linsee who is a very nice young lady and returned happy after a big hug home to St Marys.
This not only made Linsee’s day but also my day to make her happy and do an act of kindness.
So always remember to try to make someone’s day special and fulfill your act of kindness.
Till next week.
