Kiki’s Corner: Striking up the symphony

The West Virginia Symphony was scheduled to present ‘A Melding of Cultures: WV Symphony Spring Tour – Parkersburg on Sunday at Henderson Hall near Williamstown.

This Sunday’s symphony has certainly presented itself with challenges! We had the best intentions when we planned this unique concert outdoors at Henderson Hall, but Mother Nature has again reminded us that she is in charge!

Due to the predicted temperature this Sunday, the Symphony has been relocated to the Parkersburg Art Center at Eighth and Market streets in downtown Parkersburg. We received word Wednesday morning, from the musicians, that their instruments can not tolerate the predicted temperature this Sunday.

The symphony is set for 2:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 1:30 p.m. Seating will be provided for everyone. Tickets will be available at the door. We apologize for this unexpected change in symphony venue and any inconvenience it may cause you! We hope to see you there!

Music lovers should not miss this Appalachian Spring Concert which will be an awesome performance and I assure you will be very pleasing.

This will also give you the opportunity to enjoy and tour the beautiful Parkersburg Art Center before or after the concert.

PS: Our last concert “Discovered Treasures” will take place on Sunday, May 5, at 2:30 p.m. at Blennerhassett Middle School.

Immediately following the concert the West Virginia Symphony League – Parkersburg will be hosting a dinner at the Blennerhassett Hotel with the theme of “Almost Heaven West Virginia” with live performances provided by Jackson Middle School Select Choir, directed by Kristen Allodi and accompanied on piano by Brayden Stephens.

Call or text Terry at 304-481-0364 to RSVP for your dinner.

Our last fundraiser of the year is our Geraniums flower sale — call me at 304-615-5454 or any league member. ( You can stop at the Texas Road House parking lot on May 10 between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to pick up your favorite colored flower.
