Kiki’s Corner: Changes over time
Trending
One major change is phone communication which has drastically changed over the past few years.
It is impossible to find a telephone booth on the streets and even a big downgrade in land line telephones in people's homes. Since the development of cell phones and iPhones, etc., people have become much more connected and it is almost impossible to find someone that does not carry and use a cell phone.
Netflix and computer access to movies at home have caused a major decrease in people going to the movies when they can watch things at home plus save money with the high cost today of going to movies.
Look at the number of television stations. In 1960 there were only three major TV networks. -- ABC, CBS and NBC. Now with satellite and cable options we are exposed to hundreds of channels.
Years ago and before the internet people wrote and mailed physical letters, notes and greeting cards which have now been replaced with hotmail.
Libraries and newspapers have been also replaced to a big extent by the internet and electronic devices.
AAA offered "trip maps" whereas now all one needs is a GPS and can program in whatever destination they want to get to.
Another big change is people are in such a hurry they have resorted to going through the drive through service to order food or order and pay online and just pick up your order when you get there. Of course now one can also order their groceries online and have them delivered upon arrival to pick them up at the grocery store.
Today I have just mentioned a few little things that all of us have experienced as changes in our lives that have affected all of us.
Till next week.
