Visiting the Fishing Camp - Excellent Time Had By All - Members of the Little Kanawha Fishing Club Enjoying Themselves
H.C. Jackson, receiver of the Little Kanawha railroad and a party of his friends went over the road [railroad] yesterday on an inspection and pleasure trip. The party, which was a jolly one, left the depot at 8:30 o'clock in Senator Camden's private car. The distance to Palestine is 30 miles, and the run was made in a little more than an hour, thus showing the condition of the railroad, which is very smooth.
Palestine was reached about 10 o'clock. The car was cut off from the regular train and the party spent an hour in wandering about the place and inspecting the property of the L. K. R. R.
Shortly after 10 o'clock a special engine was sent up and the party was taken to the club house of the Little Kanawha Fishing Club, where they were royally entertained by the members of the club. This is one of the most popular pleasure clubs in the State, and they entertain their visitors in excellent style.
The party was shown over the grounds and the club house, which, by the way, is a handsome and well equipped one.
Lunch was served in true German style. The club has connection with the brewery and are never out of their favorite beverage. They are also well supplied with other drinkables.
When the party left the grounds, they were serenaded by the members of the club who sang German songs, their singing being unusually fine.
Oscar Hiehle sang a bass solo through a megaphone, which was very much enjoyed.
Mr. Jackson and his guests arrived home at 2 o'clock, each one being delighted with the trip, which was a most delightful one.
Mr. Jackson gave his guests his personal attention. He is an excellent host.
Those who enjoyed the trip were: H. C. Jackson, L. B. Dellicker, Capt. Josh King, B. S. Pope, George Thompson, Stewart Johnson, H. M. Collins, A. G. Jackson, Maj. Elliott, Capt. McCosh, I. K. Dye, R. D. Ford, and Dana McGlothlin.

FISHING EXCURSIONS
There are a great many fishing excursions taken at present by Parkersburgers to available places along the Ohio and [Little] Kanawha rivers. Fishing has not been very successful so far this season owing to the muddy conditions of both rivers. William Smith, Fred Smith, and Mickey Flynn formed a party which went down to Blennerhassett Island yesterday afternoon to enjoy the sport. They returned late in the evening, although there was no reports of their making any tremendous catches.
Charles Riddle, James Pickett, Charles Hendershot, members of the Happy Hooligan Fishing Club, will leave in a few days for up the river where they will enjoy a few days fishing.

FINE FISHING
One Man Caught 35 Catfish in Two Hours Near the B. & O. Bridge Piers.
Some of the local fishermen have located another great fishing place near the B. & O. bridge piers, where there is a great school of catfish. Frank Houston spent two hours there yesterday afternoon and caught 35 nice catfish, several of which weighed a pound or two. Another fisherman who had two hooks on his line brought up a fish on each hook on two or three occasions, and this is no fish story, as it will be vouched for by a very reputable citizen from whom an affidavit is not necessary, and who saw the fish caught.
