MOV Parent: Christmas wishes

With only a week remaining for the Christmas holiday, I often like to go and stand by Santa Claus while little ones are telling him what they want and their Christmas wishes. Most look forward to visiting Santa while others are petrified and afraid to go close to him and it is mysterious as to why.

Who knows what is taking place and going through the little child's mind that makes them hesitate to visit and sit on Santa's lap. Still, there is the possibility that if they do not visit Santa and tell him what they would like for Christmas, there may not be anything for them under the tree on Christmas morning, therefore they do decide to go see him.

It is the cutest thing to see all the little children waiting in line to visit Santa with their long lists in their hands.

Santa also serves as a blessing at times for parents sometimes when the child misbehaves and the parents say to them "I am going to tell Santa if you are not good!" Then all of a sudden, you can usually see the child changing their attitude instantly.

We have Santa as an incentive during the month of December but as parents, what do we do for the other eleven months of the year?

The question is how do we as parents train and teach our children to respect and appreciate things in life? It is up to us as parents to mold our little ones from a young age to do all the above.

Children are very clever and they know when to push your buttons. You all have heard the expression "like father, like son," which tells us that we also need to set an example for our children so they will continue to look up to us and trust us.

The seeds and examples you spread and implement will show in each child as they grow older and become parents themselves. Hug your child this Christmas season and be thankful for them and their blessings. Tell them how much you love and appreciate them throughout the year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

Until next month
