Letter to the Editor: Cut to SNAP benefits hurts us all
Trending
Thank you for publicizing the Chick Crites Food Drive. Soon we'll get together to share Thanksgiving dinner, but some children and older people will be left out because of the Big Ugly Bill that Congress passed last year, which both of our U.S. Senators Capito and Justice voted for and the President signed. Congress is taking away food from hungry people by cutting federal support for SNAP ("food stamps") which feeds millions of children, older adults, and families. They cut food money and they gave tax breaks to billionaires.
Stunting the growth of children from lack of nutrition does not make America stronger or greater. Children cannot grow up to "be all they can be" to defend our nation. It does not help us keep up with the rest of the world. We need to do better.
Senators Capito and Justice need to reverse SNAP cuts.
