Letter to the Editor: Make the right choice

A recent op-ed writer made some interesting points in his dissertation. He defines himself as a leftist progressive, avowed socialist and an atheist. What a combination of labels to wear!
First of all, tell me one country that has ever existed that was socialistic and successful.
He also mentions that he does not like the concentration of wealth. I have no problem with people being successful and becoming wealthy. Just remember that it is the business owners who create jobs, not the government.
Of all of the labels he obviously wears with pride, the one which scares me is the atheist one. The Bible says, “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” Psalms 14:1 KJV. There is ample evidence that God exists if one is not deceitfully and deliberately blinded. To say that one does not believe in God is very dangerous. To die without accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the height of foolishness.
The Merriam-Webster online dictionary describes a fool as “a person lacking in judgment or prudence.” It seems that in today’s society some like to espouse atheism to be popular, to go against the norm, to be different. Standing out as an atheist is not the brightest thing to do in this world. There will come a judgment from God himself. If you do not believe in God, then go for it, but your unbelief does not make God not exist. He has always existed and will always exist. Reject Jesus and suffer the consequences.
I do not expect our writer to believe me and immediately accept Jesus. To the contrary, I expect a possible response of derision as a way of self-defense. That being said, his writings, although I do not believe as he does, show an intelligence to express his opinions and beliefs in an excellent manner.
Anyone can change and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He died on the cross for all of our sins, and all we have to do is admit we are a sinner and need a savior and accept Jesus Christ.
I often wonder how a person decides to become an atheist, especially when they have had Godly relatives around them growing up. Make the right choice. Choose Jesus today.
