Letter to the Editor: Trump offers no benefit to average American

I am sending this in response to a letter to the editor that appeared in the March 8 weekend edition of the newspaper. The writer complained that Congress and ultimately your publication is infected with “Trump Derangement Syndrome” by intentionally overlooking the good things Trump’s administration has done. His letter did not delineate any of these good things. His letter, however, did admit that Trump is an arrogant braggart. The writer apparently doesn’t believe these are negative personality traits for anyone let alone a billionaire.
The letter also pointed out that Trump is not truly a “politician” as if this somehow should make him more qualified to hold the highest elected position in our country. Trump’s lack of experience does not justify his intentional ignoring of the separation of powers and the constitutional rights given to all in our country regardless of race or income level. In my opinion, unless you are homophobic, sexist, racist or very, very wealthy, nothing being done by the Trump administration, and particularly the Iran war, is going to benefit the average American, the environment or our children’s future. Although I am too young to remember the Korean War, I do remember Viet Nam. I am grateful that freedom of speech exists and that news agencies, including our local News and Sentinel, are reporting the facts to the best of their ability. I encourage everyone to continue to resist the Trump administration’s attack on people and the agencies designed to protect us.
