Letter to the Editor: Put back portable restrooms

Early this summer I inquired about the necessity of a porta-a john near the playground at the city park.
I was told by the mayor on May 13 after a not so nice conversation that he planned to put some in the park when music in the park started in the summer.
Two were installed near the horseshoe pits. Now the music on Thursdays is over and the port-a-johns are gone. I thought about bringing my concern up at a city council meeting but that is not allowed.
I would need 4 council persons to agree to put it on the agenda. I could call a city dept but most everything has to be approved by the mayor. I could call the mayor’s office but the very nice secretary would take a message and pass it on to a city dept.
There are 2 restrooms, One by the tennis courts and one at the ballfield. Families and children using the playground would have to know where they are and walk around the construction area.
The horseshoe pits and band shell are also still being used.
This is a request to re-install the port-a-johns for the many different groups who use the park. They should be there until the new and improved ones are available in the new “big beautiful building” in the center of the park!
