Letter to the Editor: Justices must do job

(Letter to the Editor - Photo Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)

To the chief justices of the United States:

Help! Your country needs you! It doesn’t matter which party was in power when you were appointed. Please, please, please uphold the Constitution, maintain the balance of power, defend the rights of U.S. citizens as guaranteed in our constitution. Please stop the creep of oligarchy and fascism as it once moved through Germany before WWII.

You as Supreme Court Justices represent what is fair and safe in our country. You took an oath, and you know what you need to do. Please commit again to protecting us citizens. Democracy will truly make America great again, as the rest of the world once knew us to be.

I fear for my country. I look to our justice system to keep in place the wonderful liberties so many others lack in their governments. Please be diligent. We need you!

My concerns: unlawful seizure and incarceration without due process; profiling; using the military to force the administration’s agenda on the U.S. citizens; cuts to Social Security and Medicare; cuts to research; tariffs on allies; limiting the power of EPA and OSHA to protect us, and undoing the environmental progress made up to this point.
