Letter to the Editor: Good impression starts with landscaping

I would like to say first that the hanging flower baskets on Market Street have been beautiful this spring and summer. They’ve been a wonderful addition to downtown Parkersburg.
However, I can’t understand why the city and county don’t seem to care about the overgrown grass and weeds along streets, sidewalks and parking lots. Even many businesses have let their landscaping go to weeds.
I’ve always been proud to be raised and lived in the Parkersburg area all my life but there doesn’t seem to be much concern about the impression our area makes, especially on visitors. In a recent letter to the editor someone proposed that we “let the grass grow.”
I think that’s been the attitude of too many already.
