Letter to the Editor: Compassion needed

(Letter to the Editor - Photo Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)
In 1960 I worked part-time for a Parkersburg doctor. Some patients paid for their visit as they left the office. We billed some patients and they paid a little each month.
There were a few patients who couldn’t pay. The doctor took care of them anyway. He also kept “samples” of prescription drugs to give to them.
As far as I know, this was nothing out of the ordinary before we had Medicare and Medicaid.
I hope today’s doctors will show the same compassion as their patients lose Medicaid coverage.
