Letter to the Editor: Ignoring teachings

(Letter to the Editor - Photo Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)

What a mess in D.C.! The current president has permitted an immigrant to take full control of the country’s money.

I thought he was going to export immigrants who were criminals. This criminal is gathering our information. Putin probably has it already. People wake up. Your dream of making America great is over. We are living in a nightmare.

Your neighbors and mine are going to be hurt by the new administration. Instead of saving money they are allowing food to rot as it sits on ships as people are dying of hunger.

To all my Catholic friends and relatives, the cabinet of this president seems to be the most Catholic of any previous one. They may say they are Catholic but are they followers of the man they say started the Church? I don’t think they have studied Matthew 25, the Sermon on the Mount, or Catholic Social Teaching.

* Life and Dignity of the Human Person

* Call to Family, Community, and participation

* Rights and Responsibilities

* Option for the Poor and Vulnerable

* The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers

* Solidarity

* Care for God’s creation.

How many have read Isaiah 10:1-2?

“Ah! Those who enact unjust statues, who write oppressive decrees, Depriving the need of judgment, robbing my people’s poor of justice, Making widows their plunder and orphans their prey!”

Of the seven social teachings the only one that they pay attention to is Life of a human person. As soon as a child is born, they forget its dignity and rights as a human being.

If this administration and the cabinet members were to follow these teachings, we would not be concerned about feeding people, etc. We would not have a billionaire taking more of our tax money for his own benefit. What kind of a world is he creating for little X??
