Violence, vandalism not the answer

(Letter to the Editor - Photo Illustration - MetroCreativeConnection)

With the recent flux of vandalism being perpetrated against Tesla, one has to wonder what has happened to our common sense and decency. Imagine our Founding Fathers having such hatred for those that had a differing opinion while constructing our Constitution and our nation.

I daresay we’d still be living under British rule.

Violence has become a knee-jerk reaction if you don’t like something. What’s more appalling is our own elected officials are applauding and encouraging acts of violence and destruction publicly against someone whose political party is currently in the White House.

Where’s the shame, America? How about YOU, the voter, who elected these people? Is this what we teach our kids now in school and at home — if you disagree or don’t like something, it’s okay to vandalize their hard work.

Burning a Tesla changes nothing but the life of the individual who goes to prison for it. It also affects their family in one of two ways: It will cause heartache for a lifetime or it will breed more violence.

Change your hearts, change your families, change the way you respond to adversity. Hopefully you don’t wake up one day to a destroyed business or lifetime of work because someone disagreed with you. So far, it’s only been vehicles. Let’s stop it before it takes innocent lives.
