New investigation needed

Many everyday Americans are left wondering what actually happened on Jan. 6, 2021. Partisans on the left believe the official findings of the Congressional Jan. 6 committee pushed by the Democrats and the fake news media that it was a violent insurrection attempt to overturn the election results.
Partisans on the right believe the governments’ response to the terrible events that day amounted to weaponizing the DOJ to criminalize conservative political views.
The House select committee’s official report of over 800 pages is too deeply biased to help as two anti-Trump Republican representatives, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, were appointed by Nancy Pelosi to “represent” the Trump side.
The select committee showed many blatant disregard for facts, claiming Trump when addressing the crowd at the ellipse, a park south of the Capitol, “sent” them to the Capitol to riot. Trump actually encouraged the crowd to march to the Capitol to “peacefully and patriotically” protest the election results, due to election irregularities and outright fraud.
Another blatant disregard for facts was the select committee’s claim Trump was aware of the violence at the Capitol for over three hours — 187 minutes, to be exact — before taking action to intervene, which Liz Cheney called a “supreme dereliction of duty.”
It has been corroborated no more than 25 minutes passed between the reported Capitol breach at 2:13 p.m. and Trump’s first tweet at 2:39 p.m. addressing the situation and saying, in part, “stay peaceful.”
About 30 minutes later, Trump again tweeted, in part, “I am asking everyone at the Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence.”
More important than the report’s factual errors were serious questions never investigated by the select committee. Why did Democratic leaders turn down Trump’s repeated offers of National Guard troops at the Capitol on that day? Why was security so lax that day with expectations of large demonstrations? How many FBI informants and other undercover law enforcement officers were in the crowd? What communications did the FBI and informants have with the organizers ahead of time? And many more questions.
Hopefully, House Republicans will launch a “new” investigation into the biased earlier Jan. 6 report, including over 40,000 hours of Capitol security footage to which the original Jan. 6 committee were denied access, and release all the information.
