It is with pleasure and gratefulness I recall of coming and to American. American Government welcoming us to the USA. We were catapult from our Birth Country of Latvia. It was during the conflict of World War II. The conflict was between USSR and Germany. Many small European countries were in the path. After the WWII, we were placed into Camps. We were awaiting to be accepted by free world countries.
We were keenly aware that when we immigrate to USA, we would have to adept and learn to speak English. The language of USA.
President Trump’s executive order of making English our official language is correct. Nations as a rule pride themselves in their common language. It facilitates not only communication, but also makes a bond that binds us.
As Rick Lowry so amply analyzes “A Nationally designated language is at the core of a unified and cohesive society, and the United States is strengthened by a citizenry that can freely exchange ideas in one shared language.”
Many Americans are polyglots and that just makes America attractive to all. As a rule, American Immigrants enrich living enjoyment in a variety of different national contributions. To our palate of taste, there is such a variety of delicious foods from humble please to delicious Baklava. What about Amish Cheeses and Breads. It not only satisfies our variety of foods, it gives us cloths we like to wear. We share so many thing because of our diversity.
Living in America and speaking English open many doors for all of us. Life is good.
